Replacing Antenna

Ok, so, my antenna is really starting to **** me off, it is getting worse and worse about going down. What are my options about fixing it?

I was thinking about putting in an aftermarket antenna that is stationary. What do I need as far as an adapter for the diversity antenna?

Try helping the dying first...

Lubricate the antenna with lithium grease, take down/up 10x, wipe off.

Make hole [solder-iron tip] on top of the antenna gearbox (trunk) and spray in lithium grease... close hole.

These should be done periodically - the motor will last 'forever'...

It seems like when I lubricated it, it would temporarily get better. I used WD-40 last time though (I was stupid), I will try with grease this time. Should be better...

About the gearbox...how do I 'spray' grease in?

WD-40 is okay for brief period, but it tends to evaporate.

I know two ways, first I explained above

II Second is to pry open the antenna gear body from middle, just ajar, spray in, close
