im slowly gathering parts for my ve5 , and i noticed my Bpipe to CAT bolts are sooo rusted u can't even see the shape of the bolts... its just a big rusted blob.
i have never delt with bolts this bad before... i have heated rusted bolts out with a torch, but these seem waaaay to rusted.
they must be removed along with the cat... to install my "high flow cat"
but now im thinking when the time comes, ill be forced to replace that pipe or at least make a new flange for the B pipe. If i had the money, there would be no question on replacing the pipe (it doesnt leak at all but it is old)... i have other plans and wana keep the stock b pipe.
has anyone heated bolts out or made a new junction between these two pipes, i have no experience welding pipes or flanges...

i would first try to clean the bolts off with a wire brush on a drill. then i would heat em' up and try, try again.
if that doesn't work and you just end up stripping the nuts, drill em' out. get a cobalt drill bit in the size that you need drill....and you'll be home free.

i had the same problem and ended up having to pull the whole Bpipe/cat out from under the car as one and then i cant remeber how but i got them separated with out cutting the flang off and then used new bolts to connect my test pipe

... nut splitter huh?... sounds interesting.. but i dont have a nut splitter and i dont think i have to tools to split a nut, so i dont think ill be able to split thoes nuts... hehe
im sure it involved an assorment of different tools ranging from vise grips to hammers to breaker bars with a 3 or 4ft helper pipe but it was over 2 years ago and i really dont remember
nut splitters a good idea

I concour with Jeffy on the nut splitter.
or you could dremel them off but you will probably ruin a flange or atleast use alot of discs.
oh dont forget to buy new bolts before you start working on the car.

Don't worry about damaging the threads they're damaged already drill thru it all to make a larger bore for a bolt ,washer, lockwasher, & nut setup....This is easier to work with......and easier to replace in the future!
