thankfully canadian 3rd gens didn't come with them.
i second that! and gxe came with 4 disc brakes and digi-climate control, keypad entry standard.

if it wasn't for the keypad entry i would have had to hire a locksmith(or slim jim equiped tow truck) about 4 times a year...

Sure they can get a bit annoying sometimes, but most of the time I don't even notice it's on me. Which is also good since where I live you get a very expensive ticket for no seatbelt. So my Max is sorda reminding me to watch out! And if I get tired of it on a long trip, I just pop it off.
i agree that they can be helpful but because they weren't common in canada at all, it seems like more of a nuisance than anything.

In my experience, with automatic seatbelts it's easy to forget to do the lap belt.

Decapitation upon impact is not a good thing.

i had a gxe i liked my cloth seats better then leather and i liked the keypad but now i put keyless entry in my se the vg was nice i had no problems ever with it and it ran beautifully my se is a money pit but i would take a ve 5spd over my beautiful gxe anyday (it was perfect inside and out i miss it)
gxe rock but the trannys and chrome trim blow thats the only problem
as for auto seatbelts they rock at first it was annoying but its second nature now and its so much easier to just do the lap belt and it feels funny if i dont have it on so i never forget

Hmm, I'm interested. How hard it is to put a 5-speed in it?

Oh yeah, got a GXE with almost 160k on it, nothing special but runs veeeery very well, no serious problems whatsoever. (although the regulator had to be replaced, :-( ) Hoping to take her to 200k!

I had my GXE for about 8 years now and it has been great! Digital keypad is probably one of the best features on that car. Wish my car came equipped with some more options like moonroof or ABS. The only option that did come with my car, which became standard in 1993, was the SRS air bag.

first off, this thread started as 'Any GXE guys rollin in the 3rd Gen Forums?', it DID NOT say 'whats better, gxe or se'. so quit fighting over that **** and get a life.

we all know perfectly well that both trims have their advantages and disadvantages, and saying that my car is better than yours does not grow you an extra inch in the diameter of your *****.

Speaking of keyless entry, my power locks have stopped working. Anyone have any suggestions as to why or how to fix it? Power windows are getting sluggish, as well; and the clock sometimes dims and fades out.

Poor Chet.

P.S. And I've just discovered today that the station display no longer appears when the radio is on...and the antenna doesn't go up when that happens! It's very, very frustrating to have all of this start to go wrong...I just got the car a year ago from a guy who was the only owner, and he was so **** about the car I thought I'd be safe from any major problems. Especially because of the great reviews the '93 got across the board. Gr.

No one was fighting. We were having a mature discussion on specific models of the 3rd gen. A few did throw snowballs (I am guilty also) but everyone that know's their car also knows it's disadvantages. That's why I mentioned VTC's and someone timing belts. Plus you're like 10 posts behind. We already settled that discussion

The antenna works when the display on the radio works. I know the problems are connected, I just don't know which end it's on (radio or antenna), or even where to start looking.
