Before I Buy.

OK there's this VG I saw for sale in Mass. Its a 5 speed and they want 500 for it. The only problem is that the engine will crank but won't start. Why do you think this is. Bad sensors possibly. They told me it turns over but it then just dies. I'm guessing distributor and wires because my car did that when my distributor was bad and I kinda put the wrong wires to the wrong cylinders. But either way a VG30ET will go in it if I buy it but I want a 5 speed now and my GXE is have a third tranny installed.

As I was a kid, papa bought a jeep with that wiring. Four cylinders with two missing, still went 40mph! U know u grand granparents bought lots of them to europe: all free!

I think u know already the possibilities: ask for fuel hose stiffness and pump noise. Then be ready to bypass the inhibitor relay. Next have wires & cap as u said, maybe one transistor in the pocket.

could be a simple as a blown Engine control fuse. Or as worse as trashed timing belt. It's a gamble either way.

If the timing belt is broken, it will not turn over

They said it turns over then it dies. Possibly a bad fuel pump or something related.

oops, i missed that part. sorry. if it starts but than dies, i'm sure it's a pretty simple problem to fix...good find man. could be a lot of different things of course but if you do a compression check on it and it passes then it's nothing a day or 2 of tracking down the problem and fixing it can't solve. could be a couple bad plugs or wires or a fault in the fuel system. $500 is cheap though if it's a realitively easy problem to fix, especially if it's located within driving distance.

So freakin tempting. If I only had the money though. Getting my GXE auto tranny fixed kinda took my bank.

So you have put about $5-6k into this car in the last year and you are selling it for only $2500? Bummer. I think I would be pretty pissed if I was you. If my car had half the issues you had I would have parted it out.
