Major Engine Failure - KS related !!
I can't believe it.. I should have listened to Jeff and Internetauto... my engine has developed a major problem, and last night it ended in complete distater.. and I think the reason is the knock sensor bypass that I installed a while back.
Everything seemed to be running fine, then a couple dyas ago, driving on a very quiet road, I noticed I could hear a slight tick tick knocking sound. I figured it was just something else.
Then last night, going up a quiet incline, I noticed it again. I wanted to see if I could get a better diagnosis on the issue, so I stomped the gas, and sure enough the knocking went like crAZY!! Maybe I got some bad fuel, or whatnot, or maybe I just had 'silent' knocking the whole time and never noticed.. but whatever the case, it was BAD last night!!
Anyway, long story short, I nailed the gas up the hill a few more times, to see if I could get a feel for the RPM range etc.. of the knock, and on one pass, at right about 4000rpm.. there was a LOUD crack.. the car felt like it had just hit a curb.. then nothing but clankety clankety clank... a crankshaft or rod bearing no doubt had blown... my car had to get towed to a garage, and today sure enough the mechanic let me know I was better off paying to have it towed to a junk yard than put a single cent into having it repaired.
I should have listened to you guys telling me that a KS bypass was a bad idea.
