Need Help!! My Max Will Not Start!!

HI,

I went to start my max up and it would do anything only the lights on the cluster appeared. This has happend before to me about 4 times but this time it didnt turn over. I tryed to reset the theift system because I thought that it would be shorted with somthing. Maybe it is cutting off the starter or somthing can any one help me ASAP!!!

THANKS

If it's the alarm, try opening/unlocking the trunk or passenger door with your key. Then try to start your car.

Try lightly tapping on the starter, This might unstick the brushes of the starter motor.

and if those don't work, then fully disconnect the starter (don't take it off) and reconnect everything -of course reconnect the battery LAST.

tighten all the connections down real good. that was my similar problem recently

turn the Key all the way (ACC ON), I think. well turn it all the way and hold it there, (the starter will NOT engage), now with your other hand tap the shifter UP past "P" a few times. If the starter spins then you need to check that realay.

When you hit the BREAK you should hear a click, that is also realated to the shift realay thing (forget what its called). Hope that was clear and good luck.

Asuming your GXE is auto....

Try starting it in N and right above and below N. If it starts then its your shift cable bushings that need to be replaced. $5

DO NOT tap on the starter. I forget what the term is for the starter design, but tapping it as you would do on a traditional starter will really f*** it up.

Just play with the shifter. It sounds like a bushing. With the car still in P jiggle the shifter up and down a few times. That's what it sounds like because if the car isn't in P sometimes it won't start up or even attempt to. It has happened to me a few times.

Sometimes it'll be in park just the bushing could be a bit worn out so when you place it in P the tranny is in park it's just the signal the ecu gets that it's not in P so nothing happenes when you try to crank. My car did it to me yesterday. I'll try to crank it you can hear it turning then it'll stop all actions. I turn the key nothing happens. Jiggle the shift up and down while in all actuality it is still in P then it'll crank.
