Power Steering Pump

Stealership quoted me $700.00 for the pump. Are they crazy?
Anyone out there no when one goes bad and signs to look for,
My fluid is OK, but I am hearing a noise when I press the gas
sounds like a bearing in the pump has went bad. Is this a hard
job to do yourself or should I shop around? Any better prices on
pumps out there? I have the 91 SE VG30E SOHC.

Not that hard. Read REPAIR sticky for procedure. Should be lots of used ones in the for sale section

When my pump went, the steering would give sort of a jerking-resistance when I steered hard, as well as a groan noise. I paid $50 for a used pump and it still is going after two years. the job isn't that hard, just a bit tricky for location.
Good luck.

I reccomend internetautomart. got my ps pump from him and it's great.

Install is not bad a all. Make sure you have a torque wrench, and make sure you bleed the system correctly. also there is a little o-ring that i didn't know about until i got into the replacement. I just went to checker and got a universal pack of o-rings, you want the o-ring before you start.

Good Luck!
