heh, the funny thing is...the reserve price wasn't met so nobody won it guys. i think it's absurd that they don't think $8,200 is enough for the car. classic stealership tactics and mentality. no sale is a sale unless they're screwing the buyer over.

Flew to Minneapolis Friday, Bob at Lupient Infiniti picked me up at the airport.
I spent all of 30 seconds looking at the car and I knew it was as if I was back in 92 looking at a brand new Max. No leaks, no dings, no scratches, rattles, clatter...
Its a brand new 92 Maxima! And the really crazy part is I got in and drove it home to Central Texas! 300 miles on Friday, The rest on Saturday.
I took it very easy the first day, feeling out the car, looking for every little problem. Guess what? Its a brand new 92 Maxima! We had some fun on Saturday, ran 875 miles in 12 hours.
My wife loves her white 92 (which is going to my daughter), and now she has a beautiful, brand new 92 Max.
For all the doubters/haters too bad for you! She's ours now and will be a much loved memberof the family for years to come!

I would have sold you mine for 1/2 that and you would have been much happier. Mine has leather and a moonroof, too. I would have even left in the stereo and the rims.
I guess that's a little harsh. Welcome to the board and I hope you enjoy your car. My first Maxima was trouble free to 160k because I babied it in every way except behind the wheel. If you keep up with the maintenance and take care of it, I am sure it will still seem like a new car many years down the road.

The original owner traded it in on a new G35 coupe. The car had no marks on it anywhere! The sales guy said he thought the car was garaged and had a car cover on it! Everything on and in it looks and feels new.
I opened the air box to put a K&N filter in and pulled out a very fresh OEM Nissan filter.
The car had a high end Alpine system installed about two months after the original owner bought it. He included the complete Bose system, head unit, speakers, all Alpine manuals and invoices, nicely wrapped in a box in the trunk along with a new OEM Nissan oil filter. He added a very nice Alpine sub and an Optima Red Top battery last year.
I am really happy with the car and as I mentioned in my first post this replaces the wife's 92 SE (177k miles!) which my daughter gets as her first car.
In my opinion I got much more than I paid for! If this one runs like our first one (still strong, just needs a tranny rebuild and a front wheel bearing) I am well ahead of buying any new car.

I think it's great you bought it.Dont worry about some of these twatwaffles remarks. If it had factory leather it probably would have started to shrink, heck I haven't even put my dealer leather back in the car for who knows how long now lol.
You know the entire history of the car and know it will be good for many years to come. Not to mention your wife will be/is extremely happy with the car and that's all that really matters. I think you got your monies worth
I think instead of saying he was had or whatever you want to say you guys should realize that he probably could have bought a brand new maxima, yet he bought this car... that's really telling you something. Heck my Dad sold his 2000 SE 5spd for $10,500 about 6 months ago and it had less than 100k on it so it's not like he couldn't have bought a newer maxima.

I am well aware of this, but I just went through the engine 2 years ago and she was in great shape. No build up at all (I even took apart and flushed all the lifters). I'll be replacing the exhaust anyway. Maybe I'll venture onto the highway with new tires and steering, until then just around town is plenty for me

Congrats Fred, you picked up a very nice, solid car. Quite possibly the lowest mileage 3rd gen around! Make sure you break it in properly
By the way, for the next couple weeks, keep checking for leaks. If the car sat for a good amount of time, chances are they have deteriorated (esp. main crank seals) and will start to leak.

I always park away from other people and next to curbs. Even in our 91 Jimmy where the paint is in horrible shape. Half of it is to protect the car, the other half is it's just easier lol.

Lest everyone forget, KBB/NADA factor in wear and tear over a period (including paint scuffs, dry rot, the whole bit) - degrading its value. Also, the value books will only give a small bit for mileage after a certain point. Figure this, calculate what a brand new 92 Maxima SE went for in the day - compare it with the quality/complement of cars available today.
And, the most important factor - could Dadster have really bought another comparable car to the Maxima for $9500 that had only 15K on it?
Dadster - your car is gorgeous. You're one dedicated son-of-a-gun for FLYING somewhere to pick up a car.
