Im I insane or....

Ok I finally got the tranny oil changed, used the Amsoil GL-4 ( marine yadda yadda ), and also slapped in a 300z fuel filter. I feel like I might be going insane, 'cause on the ride home it felt much smoother and responsive, not really more powerful but just overall better. Is it possible the fuel filter was so clogged it was harming overall performance? Oh and if anyone is wondering it now shifts smooth as silk, the old crap looked like 50k motor oil!

Yes to your question. Any GL-4 ONLY product is great for your MTX.

How hard was it to change the tansmission oil? Did you replace the filter on that too?
I want to make sure I don't ruin it, but the tans oil has almost 40k miles on it- changed trans at 143k

I'm passing on this info I got today from Pervis Anathema:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=225766

I just did a 5spd swap, and when I was running the parts car with the trans that is now in my car it felt smooth and easy to gear. I changed the oil and went with a API GL5 oil. Now the shifting is getting worse. I just got back from a trip to town and I could barely shift to 4th gear. Doesn't feel like anything serious though, I just think the oil is the wrong one to use.

Everybody I've spoken to has recommended the Redline MT oil.

No changing the oil is easy as pie. Simply remove drain bolt, and fill plug, drain nasty old oil, replace drain bolt, fill tranny with 4.25q of your fav GL-4, replug, drive away. Oh, and an MTX dosent have a filter.

you should have blown through your old fuel filter, to check if it was clogged, just make sure you wipe the end down real good, because gas doesnt taste good

edit: by the way, no your not crazy, last time i changed my fuel filter, power delivery seemed a little smoother and more responsive to me also...
