Keyless Entry install....worth the hassle?
I picked up a brand new keyless entry with 2 FOBs and that include the trunk poping feature for $25 at a pawn shop. I want to install it, and I got the wireing info from craigs site, but what else is involved. Do I need to hook it into the alarm, or will the alarm function as usual when the power locks are locked from the remote. Also, Where is the steering and ignition harness? Do I need to take the steering colum cover off or can I get to those wires under the dash somewhere.
Thanks in advance!

Relay 85 to lock/unlok signal-/\/\-Gnd -86. This activates relay coil then closes contacts as lock/unlock is activated.
Use the contacts as input to your whatever:
1. If u need +12, connect pin 30 to fused +12V... -or- If u need gnd, connect pin 30 to gnd.
2. Your indipendent source signal 87

Is the power coming out of the keyless entry module lock/unlock wire to low to be able to activate the lock unlock if conected to the lock /unlock wire in the max.
If it does produce enough power to activate it, do i need a relay to separate the two circuits.

So i guess you are saying the power produced by the unlock /lock wires coming out of the keyless entry is not enough to activate the 12v unlock switch in the cars electrical system.
Now i get why i need to use a relay!
Should i use one for lock and unlock separatly?
and also where is the best place to purchase relays from for a good price !
I just want the simple ones not anything fancy...
I have to try to understand whats going on in the relay!
Thanks for your help Wiking

I really dont know the device details youre connecting, neither the box capacity youre connecting to. But that is the beauty of using relays in aftermarket building: who cares as long as they can activate the relay. Also if/when problems arise, you have two separate entities to troubleshoot; much easier as no mixed interference is possible. (I think HERE is NO problems with the relays, but that is not so with low voltage electronics signals: you often need smtg to amplify the signal to drive a car relay.)
Make a drawing before youre connectin - helps a lot. Save the dwg... 2yrs fom now u will wonder who did what.
For relays seek the net: I know in US only autozone and radioshack, but then what do I know...
