Installed UDP, first opinion.....

First and formost I have to thank Matt of 4DSC.com for the awesome write up on his site. I would highly suggest anyone that is going to try this themselves, even you old timers, print and use this as a referance. Everytime I had a question on any aspect of the install, it was in there somewhere. The install went easy as pie, of course I was aided by the Dad's impact gun and a "rented" Pully puller kit. I would reccomend having both of these, if you need them and dont have them it would have been a *****! The only other thing I would say, is having a helper is a great thing as well. The only time I really needed it was torqueing the pully bolt. Once I got to about 100lbs the engine would turn! Helper + brake pedel = happy installer.

First drive after the install, VERY pleased! I expected a bit of noticable gain, but this far exceded myt expetations. Engine revved up quicker, obvious increase of power, and to my pleasure no noticible differance in temp of Ac, no dimming lights, ect, ect. If your dont have one, get one easy to install reasonably cheap, and great bang for the buck.

The pulley I got was an ASP. It was like 126 shipped. The belts cost another 30, plus 8 or so for the front main seal from the dealer (If you haven't had the crank pulley off before and done this, you should do it now). Alltogether, it was about 160. You may need more money for the crank nut socket, a tool to break the nut off and a pulley puller.

EDIT: you have a VG, the only available pulley for VGs is the unorthodox racing one. Those are around 200 for the pulley itself, so figure about 240 if you were to put a UDP on your max.

I think I ended up paying like 4 something for the Pully and the Flywheel.

I don't know if it was my imagination, but the engine felt smoother and seemed much easier to bring to redline when I added the UDP. Not noticeable daily driving, but up at the top end, it seemed to help.

With only two mods (UDP and GReddy Cat-back) I shaved almost 4 tenths (.40) off of my quarter mile time. I am going to assume that most of that was the UDP.

clean your grounds, get a grounding kit from matt93se and you should lose the dimming lights. if you dont then your battery or alt. is bad.

DId you buy it from ASP directly? I few of us have had an issue with the aluminum leaking around the seal....they fix it by putting a steel sleeve on the shaft.

clean grounds help a lot. Although a cap never hurt. HID's are nice (35w vs 55 or whatever you are running).

I have it. I noticed a much smoother acceleration and quicker response too. I agree it is smoother but I do notice some dimming now and then.

On this topic, I added to Matts kit by running a dedicated 02 gauge body ground. Tho when my Alt whent to heck my battery overflowed and I guess the spilt acid screwed up the connection on the stock body ground. Before I installed ANY of the upgraded grounds or the additionals I hit them liberally with sandpaper and Lithium grease.

I noticed it reved up faster, when I had it installed.
I didn't have any extra electrics on mine so I didn't have to worry about dimming
