I'm in the Chicago area with a grey 91 Maxima se 5spd. I bought the car just to have an inexpencive four-door with a stick. My project car at the time was a 95 Ford Probe GT. Anyway one day I discovered the Maxima Could do everything the Probe could and most of them better. I've preety-much been hooked ever since. I look forward to your advice as I build this thing.

All I wanted to do is find some information on VTC problems. So I'm a day late and a dollar short as usual and I have to post 15 times before I can ask where to get some good solid info on the 93 problem child VTC's.

You may see about 14 more of these goofy replies. fitz

IMO, converting to manual tranny is more expensive than buying a car with it, unless you can do most, or all, of the laboer by yourself . I've seen similar kind of conversion here in one of the posts.

Putting myself on the map

What up!

I've had my 1993 Maxima GXE for a few months now and I'm starting to like it. It has 160,000 miles on it- which I think isn't bad. The guy I bought it from has had the water pump, air sensor, one fuel injector, and spark plugs replaced before my purchase. I was happy with the accurate records and care taken by the previous owner.

I don't know too much about these cars and I've been surfing the web for some info. Fortunately, I came upon this site.

I haven't done anything major to the car yet. I'm having a few difficulties figuring out three things.

1) The lights in my air controls won't light up. I've checked the fuses and they're fine. I found a replacement on ebay. I'm not sure this will fix it though.

2) My rear defrost doesn't work. I also checked the fuses again and they're fine. Ideas?

3) My passenger window is always tripping on me. It's power and rolls down fine. But when I try to roll it up, it doesn't want to roll up right away.

I haven't had time to actually investigate the problems thoroughly. I thought I'd give this site a try.

My plans are to keep this car running and looking good for ten years- if possible. I want to put some good sounds in, some nice 17" wheels, tint the windows, and new paint.

I love the site and I plan to visit it more for advice, etc. I don't have a pic to post, but I will soon once I wash it!

Please Help!!

Hello everyone, I am new to this site. I have a 93 Maxima and I love it but because it kind of looks like a granny car I am making some changes. Bought the car from and older couple a few months ago and it is in excellent condition so I want to make it my own. This is what I have done so far:

17" wheels and 235/45R17 tires
New KYB struts and strut mounts
tinted windows
New stereo with amp and sub
Ordered Eibach lowering springs
Ordered spoiler
Ordered sway bars

That's all good but I work in an auto repair shop and I really have a need for speed.
What kind of upgrades could i do to get a little more oomph off the line?
I have been searching but haven't found much

Bought my first nissan a week ago. Previous owner wasn't nice to her and she needs some help. This site has the best information about the maximas from what i've seen. Very helpful members and a lot of information for someone new to nissans. Thanks.

Do you have a stick or automatic?

I have had my maxima for years (I just got it...But my mom had it before) it's a great sporty sedan...to me it has been as reliable as the sun.

I don't have a pic..but its in great shape..cept i need a new fender (sis got inna fender bender.) the hood paint is peeled for some reason(anyone know why that goes first?) and two of the windows wont shut.

140k miles..Its a 1994.

Threw my hat in the ring. Just picked up a 1990 Maxima SE, pearl white with 137K. The power train is in good shape, but I have some superficial work to do (minor body work, replace the Bose stereo, etc.). I have learned a ton from this sight already and look forward to learning some more.

I don't fit on the map, it's too small! I live in Argentina in Buenos Aires, the capital city..
I own a 93 dark blue Nissan Maxima, don't know if it's gxe or what because the car documents here don't say anithing. I assume is gxe with some optional pack because it has the VG30E engine, painted mirrors, cloth seats, but disc brakes on the 4 weels, ABS, sunroof. It has no spoiler. Automatic transmission, sadly. My father bought it in 2002 but for the last year it has been mine. Best car ever!

I have a 94 GXE that I had replaced injector 2 twice. If I disconnect spark plug wire i get spark and no change in performance, is like piston is not working. Can I test voltage to fuel injector?
