New to site.... need help with carfax report
I have bought a 1993 Maxima SE with 198k auto fully loaded with sun roof for $1500.00 for my daughter. The owner said that there was a lot of work done on the engine but did not have any paper work. It just died and it looks like it it is the fuel pump since it is not making any noise when you turn it on. (it looks like the original pump. I hope that I did not get a problem car. the vin number is: XXXXno vins hereXXXX If anyone can help please let me know. Thanks

Thanks.for the info. and sorry for the vin number did not know. I have a friend coming over later this week I will post on that thread what we find. I am planing to replace the pump and strainer and fuel filter. It started acting like it was running out of gas with a full tank and then the next day it acting like it did not get any gas. there was no noise at the pump when we tried to start it. with 198k miles on it an it being the original pump it a good bet that this is what it is. Thanks MyGreenMax94.

1993 Maxima se
I own a 1993 Maxima se automatic with 37k motor and chassis. I aquired it through my grandmother who want me to sell it for college funds. I am a MR2 enthusiast (I don't how Maxima people feel about this car) but joined this forum to sell the Maxima.

Do you have any pictures of the car?
And maybe a little history?
I just got around to adding myself to the map. My name is Tom, and I am in the Mid Hudson Valley region of New York. I have a black 1993 Maxima GXE which I got for free just about a year ago now. During the year that I've owned the car, the .org has helped me to deal with windows that wouldn't work, an alarm that was constantly going off, door locks that stopped working, a headlight switch that had failed, and a hand full of other things that I'm forgetting at the moment, so thanks to all the members here who offer so much help to those of us who know less about the Maximas.
New to the forum, from Viola Idaho. It's not in the middle of know where but you can see it from here. I must be living right, my 16 year old son was in need of a car and my wife who is a insurance agent told me she has a policy holder who was looking to give his 89 GXE away to a good home and wanted me to take a look at it. I showed up that evening at the mans home and I could'nt belive my eyes this car looks like it just rolled off the show room floor. He bought the car new and put just over 78k on it. He had serviced this car to the letter. It is white with blue interior. I called my wife and said hell yes, she said due to company ethics policy she could not except gifts from policy holders so I offered him $500 bucks I left there feeling and knowing that I just stoled a car. I have it hidden in my shop at home were I've added a new rear spoiler and polished stainless fender trim. I cant wait to see the look on his face this christmas.

hey, grab a camera, and shoot him when he sees the car

as for me, I drive a 1991 SE 5-speed,black on black and have about 222k miles on it. I got the car with some aftermarket rims (nothin' special, just look good) but its otherwise stock.
this is a fun car
Hey everyone! I am also new to this forum. Just purchased a 92 Maxima SE a few days ago. So far I love it. I used to have a 98 Grand Prix GTP, but I lost it to the bank a couple years ago and now have been driving around beaters. I found this Maxima on Craigslist for $725! Couldn't pass it up. Looking forward to hanging out with you guys.

Hi, Everyone,
I'm a new member living in Redding, California. I bought my Pearl White, 89 Maxima GXE/ VG30 automatic new when they first came out. The BMW 633csi influence was what sold me. Right away, I put a set of American Racing Equipment 16 X 7 inch ARE-298 gold mesh 3-piece wheels on her, wrapped with a set of Goodyear 245-50-ZR16 Gatorbacks. (Noisiest tires I ever drove on, BTW). Making them fit required quarter inch spacers out back, along with about 3/8's of an inch trimmed off the rear inner fender lip. The front tires would rub slightly on the inboard side at lock-to-lock deflection. The wider tires vastly improved handling over the 205-60-15's she came with. I think it still needs a better set of swaybars. Put on a set of Stillen cross-drilled front rotors and a K&N filter kit. In '97, I pulled the intake manifold system, radiused, ported, blueprinted and polished everything. I put on a completely new set of injectors, and discovered shortly after I bought them that the parts guy ordered a set for a 1990 300ZX by mistake! BUT-- they fit! Put it all back together and it even passed smog, to my great relief. The new injectors looked like the spray orifice was about 15-20% larger than the original injectors had. The improvement in performance was very noticeable.
About a year ago, I pulled the engine in preparation for rebuilding the transmission, which had started to slip, and completely ported the heads. I have used Mobil 1 synthetic in this engine from day one, and was stunned to find that with about 240K miles on the clock, there was NO VISIBLE wear on the cylinder bores! No lip up top AT ALL! Cleaned up all the piston ring grooves, cleaned, stripped and painted everything before reassembly. God, she was beautiful to look at. Turned the key and she started almost immediately. I was stoked! But within a minute or so, it began to idle rough, backfired once or twice and then locked up solid... If there was only one bolt I could have screwed up on, THAT was the one I forgot to torque to spec. The timing belt tensioner lock bolt. Popped the valve covers and several of the valves were bent so bad they won't even return to a fully closed position. Over the last year I've been tied up with a big job for a client leaving no time to work on the Maxima. It's been killin' me to see her languishing in the driveway. But in about two weeks, I'll be back under the hood. I can't wait!
