Max not starting AGAIN!

So two weeks ago, my max was not starting. It would crank but not turn over. So I replaced the the fuel filter and spark plugs, but still no start. Then I replaced the fuel filter and now everything was in working order.

Two weeks later, the same thing is happening. The car won't start. It just won't turn over.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Also, before this the starter would whine on cold starts. But it's not a starter problem if it cranks, correct?

if you aren't getting any crank now, check your fuses.

Woah, just stepped out to give it a crank and it started. Weird. But there has to be a problem because I'm not using it later to find out it doesn't start on me. Also after startup the rpms at idle would drop then increase. Say from 750 to 500 to 750 etc. And the car would shake.

Next time it doesn't want to start, try giving it some gas peddle while you start it...If it fires up then i would suspect the idle air control valve[iacv] being dirty or bad....

Oh no, I gassed it before while starting it but it wouldn't start. Could they be the injectors?

Well your problem is a intermitent problem, so i would check all the sensor connectors and electrical connectors under the hood...Check mainly for corrosion[green crap]..and loose connections..

Sometimes just unplugging a connector and then reconnecting it will clean the metal prongs enough to create a better connection...[don't know if this will make sense to you]

wtf are you serious?

I drove my (moms) crashed *** brokemobile Lumina APV for 2 years, 2-3 out of 4 corners were crashed.. until last november some rich moron from wisconsin came here ran 2 red lights and crashed the unhit corner..its gone now. what pisses me off the most is that he said it was a green light and statefarm said that I failed to yield to oncoming traffic before turning left but I had witnesses and thats why the cops didnt say it was my fault but I guess statefarm did. Anyway dont ask why I'm givin a story all I gotta say is that I never got stopped for having a wrecked vehicle.

Six coilpacks wont commit grp suicide. Thatswhy theres 6pcs of .5L cylinders, not one 3L cylinder.

- could it be problem with shakin ears?

When problem is acute...:
- Check ECU for code lamps = verify u get pwr to ECU.
- Check for spark: take spare plug, ground it, crank, view for spark
- Check for injector click while u crank, screwdriver on injector, ear on handle.
- Take MAF plug out, tst crank.

I would try pulling the codes if I were you. If it's something electronic then there's a chance it will throw a code and that would make it alot easier to diagnose. Next time it doesn't start you need to check for spark and fuel, you're really taking a shot in the dark without knowing which one is the problem.

Have you tried starting with the car in neutral? I hear that some cars have a "neutral safety switch" that only allows the car to start in Park or Neutral, I think this may be the problem I'm having with my Max at the moment. I just have to confirm that they do exist on my 89 Max...

I am having the similar problem here. Can you hear fuel pump buzzing noise when you key in ON position (not cranking)? Try wiggle the shifter a little and see if you can start up easily. i can. It has been said to be a shifter bushing problem.
