Where do you guys place your passive x-overs for your component sets? Any chance of putting one in the door?

just put it in your car and run wire from there to the component set.

What I was interested in finding out is if there was any type of installation restriction, or concern with putting it in the door. Reason: I'm trial fitting w/ "inexpensive" stuff, until I 1) Get it the way I want it, and 2) Get the set I want (Thinking of Rockford Fanatic 6.5)

each component set has a diff size crossover set. test fit it yourself. if it fits, then keep it there.

I have a 4th gen but I had no problem putting my xovers in my front doors. The only real modification was that I wrapped them in a plastic bag to keep them from moisture.

Yep, Plastic bag worked for me too. I would zip-tie that beotch in there, though so it doesn't move around. If you are placing it inside the area behind the door panel, make sure that it doesn't interefere with the window mechanism.

there's amost NOWEHERE in the door panels to ziptie the shiet to. if you keep it in your car, you don't risk the posiblity of fuxoring your xovers from moisture or rattle damage.

I wanted mine close to the speakers. I couldn't put them under the front seat because I have a changer under each seat (daisy chain compatible). The only other place was in the door.

You've got several options on it..
you can mount them inside the door panels, between the panel and the door skin, or you can mount them between the door skin and the window.
You can also mount them under the dash, or behind the kick panels. just about any place is fine.. the only problem with mounting it outside the doors is that you've got to run two sets of speaker wire inside the doors. that's not an easy task.

If you can't find a place to zip-tie them in, just use hot glue and glue them to some sheet metal or plastic that won't be seen. it's strong enough to hold them in place, but soft enough to peel off if/when you decide to move things.

That is a good idea, Matt. Mine are ziptied in between the door panels and the skin. I would have put them on the inside of the door if I would have thought about the hotglue idea. I just didn't want them banging around.
