Passenger side CV AXLE

Has anyone had this problem before.......Took out the passenger side axle today, I remove the three bolts from the bearing housing pulled firmly and the axle came out. My question is......How do I remove the bearing housing part from the old axle to put on the new one? Was it suppose to stay attached to the old axle? and if so, do I get it remove from a machine shop and pressed on the new axle before installation or is there a way I can get it off here in my garage, also the little ring thing at the end of the axle is still on the old axle, does it screw off?

Thanks for your help..

Mark

Why do I need two bearings. I was under the impression that The bearing that's on the old axle can be pressed off and re-used on the new axle shaft.
Also does any auto shop carry the bearing and is there a special name that I need to use to relate to that bearing.

Buying the new axle was the first thing I did, unfortunately there was no bearing attached to the new one, that's way I am inquiring about getting the old one pressed off the the bad axle and onto the new one.

Auto Zone.....I have done business with them before, very dependable. The shaft looks like the correct one, but the is no bearing attached to it. I did take it back and ask the saleman should the bearing be attached to the new axle but the only thing he could tell me is that that was the correct part number. Like I said the new axle matches up to the one I pulled out other than having a bearing attached to it. I need some help out there please....

Thanks I will go back and raise a little hell. Question for ya.....Did you reuse the little metal ring at the end of the shaft that mounts up to the seal?
