That is just what happens when there is a severe draw on the stock power. It is expected. I wouldn't worry about it unless your battery is dying or your alternator is not able to keep up.

Upgrade Alternator

You could replace your alternator with a higher amperage unit.

If you are kicking a lot of power get a capacitor, your alternator will last a lot longer if you do so...

And also get an upgraded battery like Optima yellow top.

i am a new york native, and although it is illegal in many places, i used to know many alternator shops that would take ur alternator and juice it up to a higher amperage, maybe u can look into that

Facts of life 101:

Nothing is for free. The electrical power your amps require to produce the audio must come from somewhere ................... either the alternator supplies it or the battery get drained. If you want your alternator to supply the power you need a engine management system that can detect small changes in electrical load, and as a result of that compensate for the extra engine load in order to keep the rpm constant - as it is, the designs do not cater for that so as Aaron92SE said, its to be expected.

Serious audio amps can easily chew around 50 to 100 Amp when pushed - on a 12V system like the Maxima's thats around a Kw worth of power .............. I don't have access to a typical dyno curve of a Maxima motor's performance around idle speed, but suspect the Max's motor only produce around 10Kw (if that!) at idle speed ................... so 1Kw as a percentage of that is quite significant - hence rpm drop when the control system cannot cope/compensate enough.

Replacing the batt/cap/alt will do nothing to keep the idling on the engine constant under the stated condition - in the end the same about 1Kw of power needs to be supplied by the alt for the amp if all is working as intended.

The shops that do this, raising amperage, for some reason are not supposed to go into the alternator and do that. I don't know why but for some reason its no more legal than the way i get an rx-7 to pass emissions.
