I think I need a new engine..

I have a 90 maxima with 210k miles and the timing belt ripped, the shop said the valves got screwed up and need to be replaced and are asking for $2k to fix it. I think it would be cheaper and better to buy a new motor. what do you guys think? if so do does someone know where I can get good prices on a engine?
thanks..

if your belt broke, your motor is done for...go look for a JDM motor from japan.. they have like 40-60k miles... here is a link for one......

Since you are in Cali, I would just start shopping around JDM importers near where you live. Tons of engines from Japan come into Cali and I am sure you will find a good deal. I know you can find a JDM VG for <$500 and a lot of places will even deliver it locally free or cheap. Yellow Pages and word of mouth are the best ways. Ask some ricers or mechanics you know where the best place to buy JDM engines.

Just be sure to have some stuff done to the new engine while it is already out -- T-belt, water pump, manifold studs -- and you should be good to go for a long time.

thanks for the info guys. I was thinking of putting something with more power in it but im having second thoughts about that because if it requires to many modifications im better of putting a used stock one in.
