VQ possible to replace the VG?

Sooo I have someone from the 4th-5th gen doing a 3.5 swap into their 4th gen and offered my their vq30de for an incredibly low amount of money as he doesnt need it anymore. Now I'm really thinking about this as I saw a guy swap in a DEk a few months ago and looks possible. I understand I will need an ECU and a lot of wiring from what brian told me.

As for the question does anyone know if I'll have to replace other stuff or all I need will be the engine and the ECU to get it running? sorry for newb question but I would like some real power

it's a completely different motor so you'll need new engine/tranny mounts plus a tranny of course as well as many other parts. At the end you'll end up spending the amount of money needed to get a 4th gen.

P.S.
the vq30de is not an expensive engine by the way...

lol dang it. I just wanted some extra power, and this engine would've costed less than an Injen CAI on ebay. Is that how cheap you're saying they are?

Cripes. It's already possible. Stillen kit. P/N 3G-TR-VQ-3.0-R. They are having a GP on it now to get rid of old stock. But you have to call for price and delivery: Phone: 866-250-5542

IMO, anything is possible with the right amount of cash. And a VQ swap WAS done before by someone, but IIRC, it was costly on the fabrication tip.

Main problem is mounting. I'm sure you can find a shop that can make you axles. Other than that swap engine, tranny, wiring, ecu, and it's just like any other swap; difficult and often not worth it. I like these things called turbos...

lol well.. like most peoeple said you need money for something like this, I figured I could get the engine real cheap but I'll still need ECU most likely axles and the mounts..I'd rather get the engine cheap and trade it for something we really need. but now that you bring it up why dont you post some info on that stillen kit you keep talking about

My stillen kit will be in like april 2ed or w/e. (2days before my birthday sweet!) and im getting this VQ the weekend of the 31st. That stillen kit should make the VQ fit like a glove in my '90 240.....

I wish I had the snap on VQ twin turbo kit tho. I dont have quite that much money....

Ill trade you my VG for your VQ and we'll call it even. Then you can say your 4th gen has the heart of a 3rg gen. And I can give you my irs from my parts car then you can say you have a 3rd gens soul too!

no you have it backwards. Aluminum sheds heat faster. Some racers have said they prefer iron heads because they hold the heat in the combustion chamber better than aluminum.
