i was wondering if someone knows how to find out why i cant pop the trunk from inside the car from the latch by the driver seat. is there a cable broken you think. how do i go about fixing or looking into this problem? please help!

 

There are two things you should check. 1.)There is a cable that opens the trunk, it might be broken or may need an adjustment. 2.)The latch that opens the trunk is broken. Check it and let me know what happens.

 

i know where the latch is. and it opens the gas tank so i am guessing that the latch isnt broken. but where is the cable?? under the car, under the carpet, inside the trunk?

 

oh damn, that sux, mine's electric, but my lock on my trunk doesn't work, so if that ever quits i'm screwed!

 

technically my trunk lock is going bad also. hope i can fix my cable before my key doesnt work anymore.

 

What you should do is work backwards. Start with the trunk and trace the cable to the front. One good idea is to lock the trunk when is open. Then go to the front and release the latch to see if it unlocks it. I believe that 89-91 Maxes you had to pull to open the trunk and push to open the gas door. The cable runs from the drivers floor to the trunk but you have to look under the carpet to trace it. I had a 90 Max so it's been a while. I know for sure that it has to be the cable or the latch/hook that locks the trunk. Let me get to 89-91 Max and I will let you know. Hopefully some of the info I provided will help you. I'm just trying to give you some hints.

 

there is a lockout latch in the trunk just under the lock catch it in the middle of the catch near the back wall
it there is so when u valet park the car no one will get in to your trunk with out the key .... i have this feature set cause i want the theifs to have a hard time trying to steal the junk from the trunk
