Death To The Mass Air !!!!!

Hello my fellow maxima owners ! Although it has been a while since I have posted and the car I'm about to inquire is not a maxima it is indeed a nissan sharing the same motor(almost) as alot of you turbo max's are running. I figure I'd post it here cause this is the only forum I remember getting straight answers and knowledgeable help. So without further adue.....

Can someone please explain to me why you can have one mass air let you just idle and another not idle but let you go to redline ? Same car as last time (87 300zx turbo) with the funky compression and so forth. Has killer oil leaks, oil pan gasket is non-existent and turbo return was a slacked job. Put the intake mani back to near stock jost about everything is hooked up except IACV and PCV valve. I'm going to hook those back up and see how much further I get in the mean time I'll try not to burn this damn car to the ground. The good news is it starts by the key and fuel pump works consistently  .

maybe it's one of the 3 (?) resistors failed and they each work at different rpms?
just a theory with no factual basis.

What are the symptoms of a mass air flow sensor that is dead?

Thanks !!

I don't understand why your maf is doing that ?

Good Luck

If you're talking about the warm air, cold air,and Idle air they have all been removedfrom the "enginebuilder". The idle air device is there but I need to go back to the J/Y and jack the rest of it to completely reconnect italong with the warm and cold air pieces.

if you look inside the maf there are resistors running between the wires
IIRC there are 3 of them, how much resistance they put out is how the MAF works IIRC

If I'm wrong then someone PLEASE correct me, I may be thinking of a different MAF

Well the one that lets the car idle all those wire's are FUBBED hardcore they are all broken up and stuff. Mine is fine and everything is connected and wont let the car idle. I was told you can adjust it ?

you can adjust the IAC (kind of)
IAC stands for Idle Air Control
Iknow the procedure for cleaning and adjusting it are well covered on this forum,so I suggest you spend $20 or more on donating so you can have access to the search feature. that's partially because I don't know how to do it off the top of my head

could the MAF also be related to the motor running too rich? I'm picking up a maxima tonight and it has a problem with the motor running rich I thought MAF or O2 sensors, and also it boggs down sometimes during acceleration, could this be caused by the MAF or am I totaly off o.0?
