remote keyless replacement

I don't even know if the remote for my car is factory installed or not. Maybe it's not factory installed cuz the trunk button never worked.

Today, I pulled it out of my pocket and it got squashed in half. Too bad ebay don't sell any replacement for the 3rd gen. So, I am thinking of buying an aftermarket. Wiring doesn't brother me, I'd to try this out. Anyone here had this experience before? Which brand would you recommend? Does any aftermarket model works universally, such as:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Bulldog-RS122-Re...QQcmdZViewItem

?

any other parts should I pick up too?

Is there a writeup on how to remove the current remote relays/switches installed and how to install a new replacement?

not quite.
the 94 dealer option pamphlet showed it for the 3rd gen (search around, there was a copy of the broshure posted)

to address the aftermarket one I'm not a fan of that one, they work OK but IIRC they use external relays for everything which adds to being able to tuck it out of the way. that and I don't like those remotes personally.

I actually sell the autopage brand remote start / keyless entry units.

Brian,

How easy it is to install your version? How much is yours shipped to LA?

Did you bother to read this thread that you resurrected from the dead?
The 3rd gen did not come from the factory with remote keyless entry.
ALL Remotes for a 3rd gen are add-ons, so remotes will vary widely.

depends on if you want it to work right or not. a better one can be got for about 100, with an install from best buy, or such place for free. of course, I have heard horror storries of people getting their cars fubar'd by their "professionals," but they were on more sophisticated interiors. you may want to interview the installer, and if they won't let you talk to the person, tell 'em "jog off!!!", and go somewhere else.
research is a very important tool when selecting any sort of add on for a car, be it a turbo, stereo, or any anti-theft/convenience system.

this add-on is something bought separately from the car. Nowadays you can have an alarm / car stereo put one in.
