disabling VTC?
I read on Craig Brace's page that you can disable the VTC by running a ground to the VTC wires, exactly which wires are these though it doesnt really tell, there are 2 wires running from the big harness. to the VTC silenoid, Would I need to ground both or just 1? >_> if so which 1?

I grounded mine at 230,000 miles and it still had a little lifter knock.
Then I added a quart of resilon at the next oil change and it sounds soooo
quiet.Only a little tap on start up. Seems to idle a bit radical
but no more time bomb ticking.

One day the tensioner completed its road to failure and threw the chain. It destroyed the valves... Your car is about the right mileage for this to be an issue, have it checked or start planning on a blown engine.
that sounded like me
grounded the vtcs and still had that ticking time bomb noise
replaced the tensioners and put it back together
1000 miles later and boom timing chain goes
have it checked out

hmmm. how loud is the tensioner sound though?
I mean my sound litteraly sounds like
as i accelerate ONLY,
vroom click click click click click but its not a fast click, and it doesn't really go up so much with rpm which is why I would doubt the tensioner

If it was me, yes. If I still have the car at 150K I will do them then. I've seen to many posts where the mileage hits 160-180K and *BOOM* goes a timing chain. I've got an extra VE engine that I pulled a VTC from and its tensioners are pretty worn, they have 163K on them. They are bad enough that if I had seen them in an operating car, I'd repalce them. Of course there is no way to check the chain...

My max spent its first 9 years as a city car doing stop & go, had 58K miles when I bought it 4 years ago and now its at about 101K. I have the ticking noise and was planning to ground the VTCs soon, so I'll see if the noise remains once I do.
Does the chain tensioner go bad with both age and milage?

It actually wears, so my $0.02 is mileage. I can get pics of the one from my 163K engine later this week (its at my parents house).
