Noisy belts?

My car screeches and squeels when it starts up, and then after warmed up, the belt(s) seem to be quite noisy. Any tips or tricks to fixing this? Can they be replaced fairly cheap? I know this an extreme noob question, but what is the best way to change them, they look burried in the engine bay. (VE)
Thanks

Sounds like they need replaced or just tightened...Be careful not to tighten them too much,if you go that route..

But then you (Green) reminded me that our cars have (better) manual belt tensioner, which should always be adjusted before using any belt dressing.

However if your gf has a POS saturn which blows the auto tensioner once a year, belt dressing is your fawking best friend.

Keith, if you go to Canadian Tire, they will have Motomaster Belt Dressing, but I personally do not recommend using it. The pulley bearing for the AC belt sometimes goes bad on 3rd gens, but if the belts are brittle-looking and cracked, just replace them. I like OEM belts.

After some inspection I was pleased to find the belts where actually in good condition. So I broke out the 12 mm wrench and after some adjustment to the tension my squeel is gone, as well as general belt noise has been reduced. THanks to all!
