is an alignment the same thing as a camber kit that you need after a suspension drop?

No they are not.
Camber kits allow about a 1-2 deg in camber change. If you lower your car more than about 1.5 inches, you might need them.
Alignments do just that. Align you car to the maker's specs or your own specs if you know what you are doing.
Question: You have a 3-gen correct? Did you have the bottom of your car painted? Or you have a Stillen body kit? Any other pics?
