FINS. I meant fins. Note how close the 'S' is close to the 'D'

f knows LOL

unlike other hydraulic sys like brake, you can't steer unless the car got ignited. So my guess was it might have to do with electrical control. Like I said before, I haven't work on this yet. Just a guess, so I could be wrong and it doesn't hurt to try.

It's not the use... There's not a single wire going to it.

It's only pumping when the engine is turning the belt.

You actually driven the Maxima or any other car with psteering lately?

Besides ............... if my car got ignited I certainly don't want to steer it - I don't care if the psteering pump is actually working or not!

In case any didn't know, I didn't anyway.

A VE PS pump is the same as a Vg.

I coulda told you that. the only difference is the pressure the system runs. the VE (or VG-SE models) runs a slightly lower pressure than the GXE models. this stiffens up the steering a bit. but I'm not sure where the pressure valve is. it might be on the steering rack, might be on the pump itself.

but the aluminum bracket holding it to the block is different. they even did the nice thing and stamped VE and VG on them for us to tell them apart.

Is there a write-up somewhere for removing and rebuilding a PS pump, or is it pretty straight-forward?

My PS pump started making noise which gradually got louder right before I put the car away for winter, which would indicate worn out bearings, correct? But there is a small chance it's the idler pully, instead. I know how much a new pump costs, how much for a rebuild kit?

So if I rebuilt the pump would it stop the whining, I do find it obnoxious.

Funny you mentioned cuz mines also makes loud metal grinding noises whenever I turn extreme right or left. I have no ideas what it is....argh I used to think it was my axles but they're brand new. So far, I have changed new ball joints, new steering boots, new tie rods, etc... and it still making those rotten noises.

The steering system is acting funny on me... before, after I turned on the ignition for a few seconds, I could steer immediately. Now, I gotta wait a few minutes or the wheel will steer extremely hard.... what's the dilly is man? help... must be the ecu? j.k. lol help

uhhh, your steering pump is FUBAR. your rack is probably also gone at that point. grinding sounds mean metal on metal.. which means metal debris through the system... which means it'll break down even faster now... which means you'd better replace everything when you do it. hoses, pump, rack.

argh crap, are you serious? the rack doesn't look that tough to change but how tough is it to change the pump? btw, how much does the pump costs?

A rack normally comes with the inner tie rods already installed.
I've got the hoses

I don't work for myself anymore, I went in with one of my warehouses. They handle the money and Shipping. I handle the sales.
The website is still usable, it's just getting some tweaks to better reflect this warehouses product lines.
