Just a little video..
I've had no issues so far on our desktop that SOMEONE never did finish so I had to wait several more weeks before it was done. it's running Edubuntu 7.10. we're running regular Ubuntu on an HP laptop too. if you really want to run both I'd find a VM setup
I personally don't know as I have a crap integrated card. Though my cousin uses ONLY linux, I'm thinking he's running Gentoo right now... and has had nothing but problems with ATI drivers/ Video cards.
find a friend with an FTP that will allow you to use as much bandwidth and storage space as you want. that's what I do for extreme measures. I have like 50GB and unlimited bandwidth at my disposal, tho the actual throughput isn't very high since it's not a business FTP but it's better than nothing.
it was me but technically they have NOT been warranty exchange yet. It was 15k or less. but as mentioned I've never tried this until last night. All the chicago maxima owners know I baby my damn car.
ati sux (ask any REAL gamer.)
(and no ubuntu is great, not the best, but WAY better than some. for example, check out fedora linux. donkey *****.)
I'm not much for Linux myself, and I don't usually game, though when I used to I have always liked nVidea cards better. He knows all about the different linux's and is pretty familiar with it... I am not on the otherhand.
the Last Drive in my GXE in its original AutoTragic form... taken a mere TWO HOURS before the tranny gave out. Here's a map of the route I drove. I do apologize for the fact that i had to rest my camera against the windshield and it caused it to digi-zoom so the road is kinda invisible one point near the beginning.

i just wanted to take a video on Ebeneezer Church Rd, since it's woodsy and twisty and has no stop lights or signs for 4+ miles.
So on Tuesday I went to Greeny's and came back on Wednesday... There's this really awesome scenic part of US221 South that goes around Grandfather Mountain in NC... It is around 4300ft for most of the route, then in the last mile, drops to 3800ft. here is said drop:

and then it snowed... and they didn't bother with the road, mainly because it's a scenic route. Well, I didn't know that was gonna be the case, so i tried to go up it anyhow... didn't work out as planned haha:

Video was started at 10:26pm... at 10:32 i gave up and snapped a few pics, then turned around (ie, let the front of the car slide down the hill) and made my way back down and took NC105 instead. Snow wasn't all that deep.. but it was a 9% grade.

shut it, flatlander...you try driving a m/t FWD car with non-snow tires up a 9% grade when the entire road surface has an inch of snow on it when it's 8*F outside

if i had made it up that climb i would have been fine, cuz the road was mostly level at 4300' for about the next 10 miles... albeit, not a bit less curvy
this is the entire scenic route.. the first video was just the last mile of it (ending in Linville)

try driving a car with bald tires in 4" of snow and the mayor deciding that he wasn't plowing the side streets in order to save money.

i could have been just fine if it had been flat.. and maybe not massively curvy. heck, the roads in town weren't very well plowed but i could still do 30-40.. just not trying to climb the 2nd tallest mountain in NC. for as little experience as i have with it, i'm a decent snow driver.
Hey Jared, I know what you mean by having a m/t with crappy tires in the snow lol, hell I had somewhat decent tread left on my 17's and they sucked ***** so I had to put on my 16's on the 4th gen just to get through winter.
I have however driven in the conditions Brian mentioned and let me say this, the 3rd gen is a beast in the winter versus the 4th gen.
here's some shots of when I drove to kzoosho's a couple of weeks ago during a storm with lovely unplowed HIGHWAYS, got my FX+ HIDs installed though so it was worth it :-)
This was after it stopped snowing, right when I was arriving in Grand Rapids

FXs plus unplowed snow in darkness= sunny looking day

Looks like I was the only lonely idiot that didnt know there was a storm warning, got most of the road to myself though :-)

Lastly, once in Chicago, nothing but ICE!!! sorry for thread jacking

but my max is pretty good in wintry weather until you try and climb a hill like that with 10-15 curves per mile. but the VLSD made life easier today over all the ice and such.. all i had to do was keep one front tire on pavement and the rest was cake.
