HELP!! VE5spd

can someone please post up the KS bypassing pictures? i'm not sure how to place the resistor. i need to test out the KS. i've already checked for codes and the ECU says 55 so all is normal. but i still suspect the KS. i replaced my coil packs already. but it seems like my spark plugs have a bit of oil residue on the top.. in the front i have oil inside next to the spark plug.. is that normal? or do i have a leaking valve cover? VTC's have been rebuild before also. thanks!

What is the car doing?

No power below 3500rpm?

The oil on the plug tops is a bad valve cover gasket..

the knock sensor will just make your car feel like it has less power, usually when the car is hot/been running a long time (heat soak).

Please be more specific as to all of the symptoms.

car wasn't heat soaked, there is actually lack of power throughout the whole powerband. i've checked all the sparkplugs, coil packs, and MAF. everythiing is good it does feel as though the ecu is in safemode. i really wanna know exactly how i do the bypass so i can test the KS

Hey look, a fellow houstonite!

Would a bad KS constantly send a knocking signal, or fail to detect a knock when it finally occurs?

It does sound like your valve cover gasket is leaking oil, it may also have a vacuum leak in another damaged section of the gasket and that could be the problem.

Bad knock sensor will fail to send any signal at all.
when the engine doesn't see any resistance where it should for the sensor, it assumes the thing is bad and runs in a 'failsafe' mode, pulling back the timing to a point the ECU knows is safe.

remember to use the highest octane you can get (91-93) before driving with a bypassed knock sensor.

Could it be the power valve not opening? I assume the lack of power happens when accelerating?

i put it in, i put 2 470komh resistors .. i didnt notice much of a difference.. i did notice a cracked coil pack in the front.. i took out the resistor again and felt no difference. what's this about the power valve? how do i know if its working? either way i need to replace the knock sensor .. because i have 2 leaky valve covers.. so i need to reach the back valve cover to replace the seal any other suggestions?

what does already adjustment the problem? mean?

only put in 1 resistor... putting in 2 in parallel halves the resistance overall. putting in 2 in series doubles it.

'already adjustment the problem' is a phrase borrowed from magobiasso, because his english isn't very good, and he was just trying to get 15 posts to make his own thread... he posted that phrase in like, 15 different threads, to get his post count up. Equivalent to "did you fix it yet?" basically, it's just to be funny.

Look where the guy's from. English is probably not his first language. I'm going to assume he was asking if you've fixed the problem since it was a week since the last post in the thread.

yeah i know where he's from, and that spanish is definitely his first language. James just reused the phrase (which is rather catchy if you ask me) for some comic relief. but mag posted that phrase in at least 5 threads, so that's why i said he was using it to get his post count up to post "no arranca en frío"

are the resistors one way/
meaning can they be put in backwards? (which terminal on the k.s. harness to which wire off the resistor?)
