Bose Headunits different sizes?
I have a 90 Maxima with Bose and i bought another Bose headunit to replace the one in my car due to sound problems and non working casette player. I put the new one in and the plugs fit perfectly and the radio works as it should. HOWEVER, the faceplate is different than mine. Its still a Bose that i was told fits into a 3rd gen cause it came outta one. The trim wont fit on. The trim that covers the a/c, radio, storage compartment, and houses the cigarette lighter and power comfort transmission setting. Are headunits different sizes? I don't know whats keeping the trim from sitting right. It acts like something is too big. It wont clip back into place.
This happened with a SONY cd player i tryed putting in and then removed cause i thought it was too big and found out the speakers wont work with an aftermarket HU.
Can anyone help me before i cut up this trim? I'd rather not

its pretty simple...you have the brackets on wrong. The SONY will work with the factory speakers btw but you will need a converter for the speaker wires to keep from blowing the speakers/amps. Some have run without the converter and it worked for quite a long while but I wouldnt.
Anyway back on topic...I think you either have the bracket on backwards or not in the right place...without seeing it in person its hard to tell though but I know its a standard ISO din (actually double din) opening and any radio if installed correctly will fit so it has to be operator error.

whatever I have never seen an after market radio with a permanent face plate that would prevent you from putting it in (maybe some 80s model tape decks or something). I have seen many that have a face plate trim that would not fit in the stock hole but it has always been removable. Not saying they aren't out there but I haven't seen on. Even my Kenwood mask radios have a separate face plate trim (and several different styles to fit different areas).
either way if he cant fit a stock bose unit in then there is some sort of user error going on.

take some pics of it and show us what you have. Show us the front and how and the sides with the brackets on so we can see what you have.
Now there are different brackets for the 3rd gen. The early brackets (89-91) will actually make the radio sit in farther on your 93 though.
If you had an early style car (89-91) with the early style middle section and was trying to put later model brackets on then it would stick out and cause you problems so you would have to swap the brackets.
Have you changed the center trim to an older style...get us a pic of that as well.
