Should i replace my vtc's?

I drive a 92 Maxima SE. The vtc's went about 8,000 miles ago. I run it hard, by not getting my vtc's fixed am i hurting my engine? I plan on keeping it for at least 3 years, it has 156K miles and was rebuilt at 100K. Is it neccesary for me to spend the money or should i replace them. If so do i get better performance out of the engine, or just no ticking noise?

yea you could just get em replaced if your keepin it that long. Or like Booner said, you can just disable them. Pretty easy to do. Step by step instrucions are available at Craig B's page.

read the FAQ links above and you'l find out more than you want to know about the VTCs..

They're basically solenoids that advance/retard the cam timing, based on rpm.

yeah that works to,the only reason to worry is for the long term effects,50/50 down the road you may have a serious problem, but still good if cars not permanent id ground them, save $1200

If i were to ground them, then would i be able to unground them if i wanted to have them fixed right? Also nstymax93you said there was a difference at 3000 rpm. Like a power difference thats noticable, cause i stay past the 3000 mark all the time with my driving, i dont want to lose the power in the top part of my tach.
