i heard that with a little bending you could get a 4th gen bar to fit over a VE. anyway, nobody has tried these on a VE yet. ya never know. plus for only 30 bucks. its almost worth the risk.

My question is where to bend?

I have access to pipe rollers at work and I have access to lots of tools but needs to know what to do exactly..

Well, On the FSTB you will see 1 little bend on each side right where they bolt on to the tower. Just give the bend a little more. Then I put washers under each bolt on the tower. To lift the bar a little higher. Then if you have a VE you will run into the A/C hose so you need to wire tie that back. James did a custom job he re welded it. So if you have lots of time or a welder ask him what he did.

But doesn't that defeat the purpose of the FTSB if you bend it?? Just curious...

I wouldn't think so (hope so?) as long as the bend isn't so severe that there's a chance that it'll just collapse under load. The FSTB just have to have enough strength to keep the towers from changing their distance from one another.

I've just emailed a user named nstymax93 who claims to have put a Freedom Design bar on his VE without bending! Whether this is a 3rd or 4th gen bar and whether it's a fluke or not I hope to find out soon. Anyone know anything about this in the meantime?

It takes alot to bend the bar. So I highly doubt that by the car turning it will bend the bar anymore.

yeah, aluminum is good for that too. it doesn't get weaker once it starts to bend. it holds that shape. also, there isn't THAT much pressure that goes on these bars. as far as i know. if anyone knows differently, please, enlighten me.

Well, nstymax93 mailed me back and said that the Freedom Design FSTB barely fit, and he put some washers under it to raise it more. He didn't modify the bar. Sounds like a close fit, but he said it works. Didn't say if it was a 3rd or 4th gen bar though....

Still, I think that's pretty good news if you can put one on w/o bending! I've seen pictures of their bars and they come in 2 finishes, either polished or carbon-fibre look, and they look pretty nice. He paid $120 I think, so it's not "cheap" though.

Should we have this info "FAQed"??

Whats up with the Courtesy Nissan site?

I am looking for a FTSB for my '91 SE

Courtesy list a FTSB available for my car, but when I click on the details for the item, it says it only fits 4th Gen Max??

Is that an error or is Courtesy no longer making FTSB for 3rd Gen?
