drivebelt replacement help

anyone ever replace the drive belt for the alternator themselves? I am considering doing it myself, but what tools would i need? Is it worth it, or should I just have it done.... any advice would help, thanks

Just so you know, you're gonna break a very long 12mm bolt while changing the belt. PB blast and/or heat up before de-tensioning the belt so you dont break the bolt. If you break it then you cant tension the belt which will leave your car squealing like mine did until I vice gripped the bolt out and got a new one from the dealer for 4 bucks.

generally you won't. they're always destroyed in the wrecks, gone from age, or the JY yanks them off and chunks them when they're pulling the engine out.
If you're lucky, you can find them in the bottom of the trunk where the exhaust, dashboard, and brake rotors usually are.

You really need to get some side/bottom covers to prevent the belt from slipping.

I normally roam the JY here often and actually had a hard time finding some splash guards for the undercarriage. I actually managed to get some filthy ones and cleaned the crap out of them. Now they look like new and will be going on this weekend as I have not replaced all 4 mounts.

Ben, as for the bolt's pic, Wayne already posted one except its the other bolt not the one he's got the wrench on.
