I'm breaking up with my car

Hey everyone, it's been awhile since I've been hanging around I figured I would drop in and say hello, and goodbye. The MAx is offically for sale (see maxima classifieds). It's time. My commute is getting longer and the Max isnt getting any younger. Meet her replacement

2006 Mazda 3 Sport.

Its been a great time, thanks to all of you whom I have learned so much from. I'm sure I'll still be around. Check out my FS post, lots of goodies, but not parting out, at least for now.

Those 3's have lots of road and brake noise, cheap interior. I'd have stuck with the Max, no car payment, cheaper insurance and built well.

You got a fun car though.

The difference is, luckily for you, that you can always get another one just like it. But when you let that one special girl slip away, I can tell you, it's hell trying to get her back, if she'll let you at all.

Moral of the story: when you get tired of the Mazda, you know what to do

I had a 08 Mazda 3 rental and liked it. I did noticed some road noise the break noise was not to bad. like Hectic said the interior feels cheap. But the mpg was great. Congratulation's on the new car.

I'm just kidding though - it looks like it might save gas. I'm just saying it looks girly compared to a maxima.

you don't EVER save money by getting rid of a paid off car and buying another much more expensive car.
math proves otherwise.

the basic math:
35mpg vs 27mpg does not equal a whole car payment unless you drive a FREAKING TON of miles per month.

Not a big fan of 3s...much less Mazdas. I'd like an RX-7 if the rotary engine was more reliable.

The rotary is a ROCK solid engine. The mid 90's turbo RX-7 suffered from baked/cracked/leaking vacuum tubing under the manifold. Replace that and most times your golden. The only other problem the rotaries had (and this was really a driver failing then an engine failure) was that the apex seals would wear prematurely if the engine was over-revved.

I learned that on my old RX-3 time trial car. Red line was 7500 rpm but it regularly saw >8700 (that was as high as the tach went). One season of that and the seals were toast. Not the engines fault.

I've read this stuff before, it's nothing personal I just have read stuff of that nature and I see alot of rotaries not making it to be high milage cars (150,000+) and I tend to consider any car that can't make it to 200,000 unreliable because my family has had alot of Nissans, two pathfinders in the 200,000s running great, my maxima at 127,000 and running like new, etc.

Ya I'm not getting rid of mine...even with the parts and labor I've done lately it's worth it. My insurance is only $87.00 per month on this car, and i've found (although it probably has no merit) that when I go to the gas station, I only put in $15.00-$20.00 at a time, i've removed everything out of the trunk including the spare tire & jack (yes I know - a dumb thing to do), and I'm just driving less.

I used to like driving for no reason just to go out and do 'jobs'...but those days need to be reduced.

If it got to the point where I had to get rid of it, I'll just replace it with a newer USED maxima...all because my impact sockets are sized for a maxima

think about the kind of people that are likely to own an RX car, and then think about how they're probably going to drive it.... that explains why they don't make it to as high a mileage. If you had a rotary infiniti luxury sedan it would probably last a long long time.

Possibly, at the same time you see plenty of the RX-7 drivers just be people suffering from midlife crisis, the kind that buy a Corvette Z06 and run it under 2000rpm all the time. That sort of car was made though, the Eunos (spelled?) Cosmo. That car is responsible for the 3 rotor engine swap that is fairly common among the RX-7 community. However it would be considered a luxury Mazda if there ever was such thing (look it up on wikipedia).

Also 93, I was considering removing my spare too...some people do it but idk how much my family would like me if I got a flat.

Here's my reasoning for that. I don't even know if I would be able to jack up & remove nuts from the car at the side of the road without an impact wrench and proper floor jack. At 72 ft-lbs,I doubt I would be able to do it, so I have CAA (equivalent to AAA) and I get 5 free towings per year...I would have it towed

But then again how would they tow it if one of the back wheels were flat? Maybe the tow trucks carry a generic spare tire. Oh oh my plan is flawed the worst. Plus I don't have a cell phone.

I don't carry donuts in any of my vehicles. Most flats are slow leaks or nail type punctures that can easily be fixed with a can of fix-a-flat or a plug. I carry both. A GOOD tire plug kit costs about $10 and are pretty weasy to use. For anything else I use my cell phone.

Well everyone to be honest I didnt think I really needed to justify my choice to anyone here, but I can tell you that I'm sick of the constant repairs on the Max, the 20 or so MPG, the freeking CLACK CLACK CLACK, the electronics falling to crap, and I wanted a new car. So kill me! Thank you to whomever said congrats on the purchase. Yall have fun, Later.
