Pleased to announce.

So. I drove from SF to LA to goto Disneyland with GF (yay disneyland!) and I noticed something amazing. I was getting 25mpg +. This was NO AC (couldn't get it fixed in time), sometimes opening the window for air, and about 1000lbs of weight with people/ luggage. I was getting ~12-13 MPG in the city but I had an alignment done on the car right before we left.

I do have a question though. sometimes when I fill up. it won't fill up all the way and it'll just click off before it's full (I had to keep "topping off" till I hit 7gal on the road.

now, just to change plugs. PCV, fix the AC, hood struts, passenger window regulator, paint the passenger front fender, bumper, and possibly get a new HU and speakers. and then the car will be amazing DD.

Not bad if it's automatic. I've had up to 31mpg on the highway before.

The click can be from at least 2 things.

The nozzle wasn't in your car properly. In some pumps, I have adjust my angle and hold it there, in which led me to the second reason.

If this happened at one station. It's because the pump had a leak. It happened to me in Palmdale were I was at a Chevron station. I keep getting the click. I adjust my angle and still the gas pump stopped. I did notice a smell of gas. I look at the fuel hose. And there it was, a drop of gas fell and evaporated after it hit the ground. A small hole in the pump hose, enough to cause the drop, of gas to come out. I informed the Attendant. and he moved my balance into another spot and closed that pump.

Since Manuals get more MPG. I may consider a trans swap to Manual

Lol, I doubt the cost its going to take to change to a manual is going to make it worth doing.

Well if you get the VE 5 speed you get an LSD and your car does accelerate faster. That is enough to make it well worth it. Tack on 2 more miles per gallon and you should be getting nearly 10% better fuel economy though results may vary.

it's been well worth it for me...... 24mpg was my best EVER with the auto. best with manual is 31mpg, and very common to be 26-28.

Well I guess this proves my o2 sensor works, I'm only a mile per gallon behind you and I still floored it once or twice on the last tank.

But how much would converting an automatic to a manual transmission cost?

depending on your non-consumable (tranny, shifter, gussets, clutch pedal) parts source (jy or parts car), reuse/replacement of consumable parts & quality of replaced parts (clutch, flywheel, master/slave cylinder, tranny mounts), and whether or not you already have the right tools... it can range frmo $200 to $1000. I'd guess that mine came in at around $850 when it was all said and done. but for the fact that i can go 450+ miles/tank instead of 375ish, it's paying itself off.

mine was sortof like this
parts car 350
clutch 180
mcyl 40
fluid and seals both times 80
ss clutch line 30
upper clutch line 18
dustboot 9
shifter position switch 25
shifter return spring 5
flywheel 60
tranny jack 70
rear main 10

Damn, I didn't realize it was that relatively inexpensive to do, I just figured it would cost thousands of dollars to accomplish.

only if you actually buy an entire NEW tranny, rather than used.

Yep, and anyone who has a problem with a used tranny shouldn't be driving a 14+ year old car. Besides, the autos are also more prone to failure which means more money down the drain when the tranny goes.
