:spock voice: considering how fragile auto maxima transmissions are in the first place, your plan to impress your friends might end up costing you $1500-$2000. One would ask, how impressed would your friends be when they see 1/2 of your transmission on the ground after?

Live long and prosper.

AFAIK, the best way for autos is just to mash the gas pedal. Don't brake torque it (be very careful or very well paid), and that advice to rev it and drop it into gear has got to be one of the dumbest "tips" I've ever heard!

Try searching this subject. I don't actually know how well the autos in Maxes live doing this once a while, I'm just speaking for autos in general. I'm guessing the big problem is heat and the sudden shock once the tires suddenly bite the ground after burnout. Some people have 1/4 mile raced their autos I think, but you might want to listen to Jeff and/or see what others say.

Use the E-brake. Just pull it up and hit the gas.

the best advice is NOT to do it at all. impress your friend by showing them you're not an idiot like the rest of the hunduh drivers out there that know how to do neutral drops or dump the clutch at 6 grand. reeeeal smart.

The easiest way to burn out and I think the safest is to find where some sand is in the road and put one of the front tires in that and just press the gas for normal acceleration.
