ok can anyone post a link or something that shows me how to replace my power steering pump, belt and hoses with all the little tricks of the trade after doing it?? seems to me like it would be a PITA and time consuming...im not much of a hardcore DIYer but i can manage sometimes lol

 

Search on it - there's posts about the pwr steering pump every two weeks, in this particular forum.

It's very easy, there's only 7 bolts or so you need to un-do. You access from the side splash panel that covers the belts.

 

The pump itself is only held in by 3 bolt on it's front and 1 bolt on the back.... jack up the car and remove it after you break the lines loose.

 

Ok I have a question. I change my power steering pressure hose and bleed it. The problem Im having now is when I turn the steering wheel its making the sound like its low on power steering fluids. I check it and its full to the top. Does anybody have any suggestion>? Can it be the power steering pump? Thx you for ur help

 

It probably needs to be re-bleed..

Although, for what it's worth, I replaced my power steering hose with an aftermarket one and no matter what I've done it still whines. From what I can gather on here, several others have had similar symptoms with the aftermarket hoses for some reason

 

the theory is incorrect inside diameter on the replacement hose.

 

While in park and idling, turn your steering wheel to extreme left and extreme right until all the fliud is within the system, continue and top off as necessary to prevent from sucking air into your system. It will make a little noise until all the air is depleted and your system is completely liquid!

 

I did that but it still whines. When turning to hard left and hard right the power steering fluids makes bubbles.I cant put no more power steering fluid in because its to the max.

 

If it's making bubble there's still air in the system be patient and keep cycling the steering!

 

So should I continue turning the steering wheel hard left and right>? Are will it take care of it by itself?Thx for your help

 

The bleeding procedure per FSM


1. Raise front of vehicle until wheels are clear of the ground

2. add fluid into tank to specified level, turn steering wheel quickly from left to right,lightly touching the steering stoppers..repeat procedure until fluid level stops going down..

3. Start engine, then repeat step 2 with the engine running...

Ok mines doesn't make a noise but at idle the wheel is hard to turn and as the cars speed increases it's easier to steer is this the pump?

 

as the RPM of the motor increases or as the car's speed increases?
