driving without alternator adjustment bolt

Is it possible/safe? Mine snapped while I was trying to get the belt tight. I was thinking that the two bolts that you have to loosen in the first place to adjust the belt would be enough to hold it still, but I'm not quite sure.

well, technically you don't need the adjuster once everything is tight; all you need to hold belt tension is the lockbolt. but it's not gonna be easy to get it tight w/o that tensioner bolt.

yeah I can't even move it by hand. :P
I'm trying to order an extra bolt and the adjuster block that it goes into (looked like threads were coming out when I was getting the remainder of the bolt out) but their checkout page isn't working. I guess I'll just try again monday or stop by the stealership.

Also, kind of off topic, but does anyone know where the diagram with the splash guards is on the Courtesy Parts website? I've looked but can't find them for the life of me.

should be easy to find at a JY.... any VG will use the same one, so as long as there's one there with it, should just be a few dollars if they even charge you for it

Pick up one from the local junk yard. The dealer charges like $70 bucks for those things. My mechanic Broke my power steering adjustment bolt when he did my water pump and didn't tell me. I had to figure it out myself after I drove the car and it would squeak so loudly whenever I turned the wheel, as if the belt wasnt on tight enough. So i go to look for the adjustment bolt and what do i find?? Its in peices!! I got one from the JY for like $5. problem solved!
