exhaust upgrade questions
All the pipes on my exhaust need to be replaced, so I'm thinking of upgrading. I talked to a dealer here and they want $271 for the front pipe (from the manifold to the cat), but I can get a Warpspeed stainless steel y-pipe for the same price. What's the catch? I have a VE and I checked the book and it says that the O2 sensor is in the manifold itself, so that shouldn't be a problem with the Warpspeed. Why is the OEM part (which obviously rusts out or I wouldn't have this problem) the same price as a stainless steel aftermarket performance part? Also, I'm finding almost the same thing for the B-pipe (not quite as bad though). Am I missing something?

Re: exhaust upgrade questions
A few thoughts on this: "Dealer Price" = massive markup. Also, even if the markup is not extreme, I'm sure the people who make aftermarket parts do not have the fat profit margins that OEM parts can take -- they must charge a reasonable price otherwise no one will buy the part. I just yesterday ordered the WSP y-pipe because my stock piece has a leak and replacing it with another stock piece would only be marginally cheaper in my opinion.
