Suspension problem, or axle problem... advice needed
So the other day I had to get the car towed (don't ask), and I have a feeling the tow truck driver messed something up with my suspension....
Whenever I reverse and turn, I get a loud "clunk" from the front passenger side. I thought it was a control arm bushing, but when I went to NTB, they confirmed that everything looked tight. While reversing out of the shop, the noise was still apparent, so they watched the suspension while I slowly reversed. They told me they could actually see the passenger side axle MOVE every time the clunk happened... so it seems to me that the bearings are binding, or something of that nature.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what an axle replacement necessary to remedy the situation? I just want to see what everyone else says before I shell out the ca$h for a new axle.
Thanks!

cannot say I have experienced it, but it seems someone recently had a similar problem.
did you watch the tow truck driver hook the car up, or were you away? he may have wrapped the chain around the axle, rather than the control arm (not as bad, but sill an ) and messed it up, pulled it out of socket, or whatever.

I had a similar experience recently with an axle but no clunking, rather pulsations/vibration at 60mph + turns out the axle was separated internally and could be jiggled in and out of the spindle even though the 36mm axle nut was on there tightly.

It sounds like he hooked up the chain to the axle. I had something kind of like that happen at the dealer I work at. We had a 09 M6 come in on a flat bed because the keys got looked in the car with the lights on, and the tow truck driver put the chain around a light post and the rear lower control air of the car and pulled forward tell the car was off the flat bed. Cost the towing company $2500 for parts a labor to fix the car.
