last time i did that was when i first got her.
the delayed shift was the issue and wiking was helping me on that issue. in fact i think you were the one that told me the tps was fine and within specs.

it's funny cause i couple people thought that the trans is on it's way out...but she's been doing that for 1 1/2 years.
if the trans has'nt gone out then because of this then it wont.

2marrow i'm gonna check it out...which progs should i use the top and bottom and not the middle?

Hey hooker, stop by my house and we can check it out. The FSM states which prongs.. I believe fully pressed in ohms should be at 4.0 and depressed around .5 ohms, dont mark my words but it was something like that. Pray you have a dead spot and not a bad trans.

okay here's an update:
i opened up the cap and rotor and impressed that it's all fine...no deposits on the cap. rotor was fine too. no play in the cam shaft either.

i checked the tps sensor.
i had the car on/ engine not running.
the volts read 4.600 @ closed throttle.
when you move the throttle open just a lil bit the volts jump back and forth all crazy between 4.500v and 4.600v then i open it more it decreases smoothly.

also another note once the volts goes down to 4.5 there's a buzzing sound. it's seems to be coming from the tranny itself.

but the volts range from 4.6v to .9v.

buzzing sound = drop resistor

which 2 pins did you test? middle and what?

the middle and uh oh...well the harness was'nt clipped on the bracket so i'm gonna say the top one.

oh as for the drop resistor...i have no drop resistor i have one of those resistor's from radioshack in place of that.

o... well all i know is if you unplug the drop resistor the buzzing stops. so maybe it's inside the valvebody somewhere

anyhow, test the middle pin against the OTHER pin. there's 2 resistor paths in the TPS. one's high-resistance at idle and drops toward WOT, and the other (the one you didn't test yet) does the exact opposite. i don't know which one the TCU and ECU actually use.

oh...ehh okay. i'ma make myself get up a lil more earlier before i head off to work and check it out.
which is kida a good idea since she stumbles on light throttle.

btw, i really wanna tankyou for all your help on this. i know i can be a persistant irritating *** sometimes.

ok i tested the tps sensor 4volts to .9volts. smoot range across the board too.
also there's no craziness going on either compared to the other one.
kinda makes me wonder though...the sensor is SOOO sensitive...maybe i should adjust the tps?

and oh my damn! i think the other one is for the tcu. remeber in one of my posts i stated that when the throttle opened slightly
the numbers be goin all crazy?

well my t/c locks and unlocks when the gas is pressed lightly.
thats becuase the tcu is thinking i'm doin that with the gas pedal.

well the t/c is supposed to unlock when you lift off the gas (to reduce the engine-brake effect), and re-engage when you get back on the gas lightly, then it is suppposed to let go again once you are at (arbitrary guess ->>) 10% throttle or so.

no...i'm saying when i checked the specs the first time when the throttle was slightly opened the volts whould bounce between 4.5-4.6. then open slightly more then the bouncing would stop.

then today i checked the other two pins it was fine. only thing i found odd it started off at .9volts then ranged to 4volts...which i thouht was supposed to be higher.

so the "decrease side" is the cause for my t/c lock and unlock.

as for the other thing with the shifting...i'm still at a loss.

maybe borrow the TPS off john's 3g? i'm sure he'd be able to calibrate it w/o a problem...

ehh...i work at the junkyard i can just get one from there.
as for calibration iirc you move the tps sensor till the idle goes up then once it does you back down.

i would use a multimeter on the hard idle switch to indicate when it's calibrated properly. basically so that the hard idle switch opens the second you move the throttle off-idle
