where to get front hubs

I need a new one for the driver's side front and can't seem to find one and my last resort would be the dealer but does anyone know any other places that sell them

Try NAPA they have almost everything, or get the hub from the junkyard and use NAPA to freshen it up with a new bearing!

3rd gen wheel hubs are only going to be found in a junk yard. No one sells them new. Perhaps you can take a gander at the sales section of this forum? Maybe someone parting out their Max will sell their wheel hubs to you.

When I replaced my drivers side hub (bearing worn to the point it ruined the hub) I went to a local junk yard and got a decent hub for $28.

How did that happen? It wore to the point the bearing outer was spinning in the hub?

When the bearings go, they almost always ruin the wheel hub. ANY time you replace a front bearing on a Maxima, you need to replace the hub as well.

Every time I (or a customer) tried to cheap out and not replace it, they wound up replacing the bearing again AND the hub in short order.

Same with me. buy one from a JY. or car-part.com. be careful though. VG and VEs don't match up. I've been going through hell because I cheaped out.

You can also get a new wheel hub on Courtesy Nissan for ~$130

Can you guys tell me what exactly happens to the hubs. Matt are you saying, when the bearing fails in a catastrophic way, it damages the hub immediately or not even catastrophic, if the bearing is broken, and your driving around on it and it's noisy, it's doing the damage then. Even if the bearing were NOT damaged, but you remove the hub from the working bearing, is it the removing of it that scratches the hub and renders it useless or something?

I read the service manual last night for the fronts. It appears you press the bearing INTO the knuckle. Then you press the hub INTO the middle of the bearing right?

For the rears, the whole assembly needs to be replaced.

When a bearing fails it heats to extreme heats and warps the shaft of the hub.

Also a failed bearing will cause a wheel to not remain straight causing metal wear when rubbing at odd angles.
