Anyone have 6th gen 17 inch wheels?

I thought all 6th gens had 18s (or bigger). I was hoping someone here had some 6th gen 17s with a picture.

There is someone on CL with some Maxima wheels. I emailed them for pics and apparently they don't have a camera.

This is the entire ad:

4 Les Schwab studded snow tires on 2005 Nissan Maxima deluxe wheels, used 2 years
I emailed them to request pics, along with wheel size and got this message in response (no pics):

The wheels are 17 inch with 5 holes. Tires are 225/55R17.

I posted this on here because I figured my fellow 3rd gen owners would know more about the various Maxima wheels that work for a 3rd gen.

I have 17" 6th gen wheels on one of my VEs. I think these are SL wheels. They also have the 225/55/17's on them. The tires are a little too big but they're in good condition so I'll just leave them on until they wear out. These wheels actually look really good IMO for a DD with the right size tires, I just don't want to spend the money until I have to.

I also have a set of the 18" 5 spoke 6th gen wheels (those suckers are SHARP), but I need to get some tires for them

cool, thanks.

I bet those are them. I am sending an email to say I want them. I could probably sell the snow tires if they are decent.

On the black one? That's stock. The fat tires just take up some of the wheel gap

OK, I called a friend of mine to see if he can pick them up for me. The wheels are located about 100 miles from me, but about 3 miles from him. He called the lady and he is supposed to pick them up tomorrow (Monday) morning. I guess I will see if he comes through before someone else grabs them.

I will provide pics and more details if he comes through.

cool, hope it works out. Looking for a change with some new wheels or just one of those good deals to not pass up?

James i bet that rides nice and comfy with those fat tires

Id like to throw some newer wheels on my 2nd VE but the tires on the stock 15s have a ton of life left

I am not sure yet. The deal is pretty good. They come with some snow tires mounted on them, which I might be able to sell. I already have good studded snows mounted on steelies for the Max.

I need some snow tires for my FX, so the 6th gen rims might go there. I am not sure if they will fit. The FX has 12.6 inch front rotors. The snow tires for it in 17s are about $30-$40 each cheaper than the correct size 18s, though. (245/70/17 vs 265/60/18).

If the 6th gen wheels don't fit the FX correctly, I will just use them on the Maxima next year.

Do you guys think these would look decent painted gunmetal? I want to go back to that look and I am getting tired of silver. I was thinking about dismounting the snow tires (selling) and having the wheels painted correctly.

update:

my friend picked up the wheels for me. I haven't seen them in person, but he said they look to be in really good shape and the tires have lots of good tread on them.

Older lady had them. She traded in her Maxima and bought a Murano, forgetting about the wheels and tires in the garage and just wanted to get rid of them. She sent me an email a few minutes ago thanking me for a nice transaction. I will post pictures after I pick them up some time this week.

Can't beat that for $100.

24 and 12 against the Bulls, 2nd in the NBA in blocked shots. Not bad. Still needs to cut down on the fouls.

I needed some wheels snow tires for the FX35. I hope these fit over the brakes. Otherwise, I might be selling them or my 4th gen 16s.

The funny thing is I just got bored and typed in "Maxima." The ad was so vague, I almost didn't bother, but I was really hoping for 2005 Maxima 18s, so I would be sure that they would fit over my brakes.

Before I bought the '07 18's I was contemplating getting the same wheels. Now that I see pics, they look pretty nice on the J3rd. I still need tires for the 18's, not to mention getting around to lowering the Max so I guess I don't really have any need or space for them ATM, but $100 is a frickin deal if they're in as good of shape as it sounds, I'm a little jealous. I've found my share of deals so I can't complain Nice find, if you do end up selling them, let me know, although I bet they'll fit just fine..

Picked the wheels up from my friend today.

Good news, so-so news and bad news.

The good news is, the tires are in great shape and I will probably be able to sell them for $150-$200.

The so-so news is there is some curb damage on one wheel. It's not destroyed, but it rubbed the lip and burned clear coat off of a couple of spokes.

The bad news is these wheels won't fit over the brakes on my FX35, so I have to decide what to do about using them for the Maxima. Since they have curb damage, I am strongly considering painting them gunmetal.

I still think I got a great deal on them for $100!

Here are a couple of pics:

ive had those on my 92 for the last 2 years or so,but recently took them off till i can get tires that are one size smaller because they rubbed on the front mudflaps on hard turns
also from craigslist and only 150 and the tires were 40-50 % worn then

I sold the snow tires for $225 this morning.

Cost me $15 to have them dismounted, so $115 in my pocket and a free set of 05 17s.

In the spring, I will try to get my 97 SE wheels and tires sold, then get some new tires for the 17s. I am pretty sure I will have them painted or powdercoated a gunmetal color.

**update**

Today, I finally got started on these wheels. by started, I mean, I cleaned them really good and took some 150 grit to them with my sander for all of the bad flaws. I don't think I am going to totally strip them, I will just sand them really good and do a primer, paint, clear on them.

Unfortunately, it is going to take me a couple more days off to get these done, which means I might finish them by late April. I have to work and the weather may not cooperate. I don't want to paint inside my garage.

See a couple of posts above (#17) for the "worst wheel"

I also took the center caps apart with a dremel.

you did a much cleaner job than i did drilling out the logo on the caps. Looking forward to see how this turns out. What type of paint do you plan to use, spray can?

I used a dremel with a tiny metal grinding head on the center caps.

I bought some duplicolor gunmetal wheel paint, so it's a spray can. I have some sandable primer, too. I haven't picked up clear coat yet.
