Test drove a 2002 yesterday

I went to the dealer to ask about a part for my car and decided to test drive a 2002 maxima. It was pretty sweet. It was automatic which sucked and the salesman went with me, so i couldnt use all the power. Any of you guys test drive one yet? I still like my 3rd generation better. Last time i test drove a 2001 5 spd and was doing 130 in it.

I'm with you on the 3rd gen. Somethin about the styling. The newer models look a tad heavy. No doubt they are beautiful and have smooth power, but I like mine a little hard edged. 130 huh!! That's fast. I've topped my VG SE 5-spd to about that (speedo has digits to 125) A little unstable on those worn strus though!! I bet those new max's make 130 seem like 60!!!

When I've driven my Maxima at around 115 or 120, I honestly can't tell I'm going that fast, it's not all noisy as hell or shaking or anything.. seems like I'm just driving a more normal 70 or something.. but I can't compare my car to normal too well... the only other car I've ever owned is an oldass Volvo 240.. I used to think my car was fast too, until I lost to a Hyundai Elantra GT.

I heard those Hyundai's are potent!! Seriously though, Scary is 90 mph in my 87 Cherokee with the worn steering, bushings and everything else! It leaks enough oil to put a nice film on the rear window after 30 min!

Ive had my 92 SE going 148, and it feels great. I used to have a 89 dodge dyatona with a automatic, i could only get it going 115 downhill at 5500 rpm. That car was scary, when i first drove my max, i bought it right on the spot. I fell in love real quick.[

Talkin about slow cars...

I just had to jump in here since we were talking about fast and slow cars. I was wondering if anyone has ever driven a Mercedes Benz 240d? My parents had an 83 and you had to push real hard to get her cruisen at 70. Up hill the best she could do was 50 in Second Gear!

2.4 liter four cylinder four-stroke diesel
67bhp @ 4000rpm
97 lb/ft @ 2400rpm

Here's a good story (not true though) about racing in a Benz
