REAL cold air intake
does anybody notice how much better your car pulls when its cold outside, especially when you have a cold or short ram intake. just wanted to know because i always notice it. thanks

Yes there is a change. For me on the other hand my maxima gets parked during winter. Mainly because of the air density change the car is running leaner. (I am boosted) So its a big problem for me. I just don't want to take the time to make two seprate tunes.

Wtf, 10-18psi? Holsets are great turbos but why is there such a fluctuation in your boost pressure?

Wait are you trying to say that an intake filter exposed to light rain would cause the engine to hydrolock??
A light rain would wet the filter, increasing pumping losses but wouldnt come close to hydrolocking the engine. Even a heavy rain wouldnt cause the engine to hydrolock but it would start to reduce power/cause stalling from lack of air to the engine. The only way to really hydrolock an engine is having and CAI filter/pipe low enough that it could be completely submerged in a puddle and suck up a large volume of water into the engine.
Having said that, this car is just my beater now so the intake was made more to be funny than for real performance. Seriously, if I parked it anywhere other than my garage, I'm sure some jackass would steal my air filter.
I will be removing EVERYTHING from the car that isnt absolutely necessary in hopes of running low 12s/high 11s (carpet, sound deadening, rear/pass seats and belts, AC, door panels, window motors, ceiling pad, hood bracing, dash, and perhaps the stereo/speakers/amps. Im looking to drop atleast 500lbs from the maxima. Its already missing everything emissions related (EGR, PCV, CAT, O2 sensor, and the carbon canister.
When I find a new shell, my engine, turbo, VE transmission/hubs/axles, gauges and nistune will all be swapped to the new car (with the pathfinder intake manifold, new intercooler and new IC piping. The intake filter through the hood wont make the swap however; I will go back to the typical CAI with the filter located in the fender well.
