headlights?

not pre 87, I have a front end conversion on my 85 and then have my 89.Might still work though. I haven't look into it too seriously yet because when I do, I look into every aspect of it, right now my research has been suspension related, and as of right now I'm working on roll centers and unsprung weight. I'll either need to do the research and understand EVERY aspect of it, or find someone who knows enough that I can just find a way to mount it and call it good, lol.

As you guys are on to E36's, do you have any faith in fitting these headlamps?

They're fairly cheap, and do have clear lenses. And as I've understood, you're able to swap the lenses with Maxima ones (same base size, different curving?)?

yea it does actually. kinda makes me wish i knew about them for my z
anyways, if you do a projector retro, it's best to use the clear-glass'd Ebay headlights. the clear glass ones are ONLY good for retrofits tho, they are worthless if used with just a plain bulb. be super patient with the glue also.. better to be patient than to break the glass.

yeah.. hopefully the bulb hole is the right size to accomodate the mini-projectors nalc was talking about. if so then it would be as simple as baking the headlight to pull the glass off, putting the projector in and making sure it's level, then putting the glass back on.

No, they're not D1S. There's a ton of info on them over on HIDP. theretrofitsource had them designed in China.
It's a small bi-xenon projector, with a long threaded bulb holder. The threaded section goes through the normal opening in the factory reflector headlight, and then is tightened with a large nut on the back. Then you just pop in a H1 kit bulb and it's good to go.

IIRC, they've been proven to fit H7, 9007 (same as 9004), 9006, H4, and a couple other common sizes.

I am actually kinda impressed with E55s. They get trash talked a lot, but they have great center intensity, just lacking some width.
My current retrofit is going to be RS6, which are very similar to E55s.

I thought you were, but I wasn't sure. That really good JVX thread with all of the pics has the mini H1s. They look pretty similar to FX.

Go to ddmtuning.com for e36 headlights, get either the DJ autos or the Depo's. they run you 100$ plus shipping, and they have glass lenses w/ proper projectors, lots of the guys on bimmerforums are using them with great results. They also have removable glass to make it easier to put on wade covers.

Unfortunately nobody offers a custom fit projection headlamps for our 3rd generations it seems and you'll have to fabricate yourself. A friend of mine who is a long term member here installed the clear Euros and I thought they
were cool but I'd rather hook up some projections myself, not cause I give a
**** bout oncoming drivers though. You can always install some factory or
after market fog lights if your looking for extra light for style or light reasons.
I installed after market led style fog lamps in about the same location as the
factory lamps and people check them all the time. They look like the new Audi or Mercedes led parking lights, they look tight at dusk with my parking
lights company.
