The wheels and brakes are already off on the rear. I left it on stands last night and drove my jeep today. I think when I take the dust shields off I am just going to leave them off.

Do you have to use a socket on the hub nut? I have a 36mm that I use on my axle bolts, but I know I don't have a 32mm.

Can anyone varify the the hub nut size? How about the tq spec? I'll check the haynes manual...I don't have the 3rd gen FSM.

i think it's a 30mm... cuz i remember when i took them off the parts car recently i used a 32mm because i had left my 30mm at my garage. but at that size it was still enough to keep from rounding it off.

 

I'll probably just buy a 30mm on the way home tonight, and take it back if it does not fit. I was just trying to save myself some driving since it would be a half an hour round trip to go get the socket after I take the nut off, but I drive right past it after I get off work. I looked up the hub nut on the advanced auto site and it does not say the size, and they do not have one in stock for 50 miles around me.

Also as for rear hub nut size does it matter if you have disc or drum brakes because I have disc and I am not sure what your parts car is caped.

 

my parts car is an 89se, so, disc brakes in the rear.. not sure whether or not they'd have changed the oem nut for later years like they did with certain other parts.

 

I have a pair of 20mm stud in spacers if you want them. Made by Crow Auto. Might be more than you need.

Here is why I need to roll my fenders/get spacers and studs, and I cannot use stud in spacers.

 

well technically, Kics-brand 10mm spacers would work so long as you cut the studs to fit flush after installation.. but they are probably $$$. note the "flat" nuts.. i'm not sure i'd trust them for how many threads they engage, vs a stock lugnut.

 

I don't want to deal with cutting the studs. As for the $$ side, they are about the same price as buying a hubcentric spacer and nismos studs (which I have already done). The studs should be here Monday. Hopefully the spacers will get here next week too, and I will post some pictures with the wheels on.

those are z31 rear rotors aren't they? anyways, one thing to be sure of is that your spare hub has an ABS sensor ring on it, or if not, whether one can be transferred from the messed up one.

 

why yes, yes they are.

the spare did have the abs ring on it so I am good there. Oh, and you were right, the hub nuts were 30mm on both of my sets of rear suspension. The only difference I noticed between my two suspension set ups (I have a spare because I wanted the longer caliper brackets so I can run the Z31 rotors, so I just bought everything from the junkyard) is that the the center or the dust shields had different shapes in the ring around the 4 bolts. One set up was a circle and the other was in more of a star shape.

 

spacers, wheel studs, and new lug nuts were all delivered today. Hopefully I be able to update with some pics soon.

here is how I put the studs in. I put a lug nut on the stud to the left of the one I was trying to install, then put a wrench on that to prevent the hub from spinning while installing the longer stud.

I assume you are kidding. I could probably get another 5mm out of it with out changing the camber, but I don't really want to try that since I am stupid close on the inside to the strut.
