Yanked engine and bought Re-maned engine with NEW VTC's installed. Engine runs great, no codes but continues to knock. This knock only occurs when engine has been run and allowed to cool for a couple of hours. Noise disappears after a engine comes up in temp. On early morning cold start engine knocks for 30-40 secs then disappears. Knock sensor was replaced as well. Any ideas on where to go from hear. Love my 3rd Gen, but seriously annoyed by the knocking.
Wow you bought a complete re-man VE30DE?

Last time I saw those were about 2k and that wasn't even a complete engine you had to swap everything over.

Regardless, you should have no knocking of any kind with a completely rebuilt engine and new VTC's

Well well well. As an update I finally got the car up and running. She goes through all her gears fine and she stops when needed. I just need to bleed my brakes a tad bit more and access an oil leak I have. Once those have been taken care of I will be on the road again. FINALLY!!!

I should have a video up in the next few days of yours truly driving away from the garage its been sitting in for the last year. Freedom! You don't understand how big this is for me. Never driven the car since the day I got it. (blown head gasket. Now I can roll her like she should be. Plus no VTC tick.

Take her for a spin on the highway and be careful the top end will make you get pulled over...ask me why I said that.

I can't count how many times I thought about giving up. But the curiosity of driving this damn thing kept driving me to say, "Might as well knock this issue out and move on. Gotta do it soon or later".

Bump! Well I got the car to start on the first crank and responds fine. I still need to set the timing, but more importantly I have this last issue to solve. She idles fine up until she warms up. Once I figure out what causes her to die out after warm up and replace it Ill be in business. I know I should've been done with this by now but I've been doing this at my own leisure.

So I finally got her up and running a week ago and took her today around the neighbor hood "shake down run". Everything went alright except on a hill while at a stop sign I tried to take off in 1st and the car bucked & shut off completely. Lol! The battery cable came off. So I hooked that back up and went on my way. Car started dying on me after it fully warmed up. I still need to set the timing, clean the IAAC, have my muffler welded on then after a week and a half of driving I''ll put in the JWT ECU . Other than that shes getting better as the days go along. I found out my rear fenders rub. I guess its time to roll the rears. Wasn't expecting to do that so soon. Lol.
