Y helo thar

while the tranny is getting done it needs U joints too, driveshaft is loose. Toyota made it so that you cant do just the U joints, you need to replace the whole driveshaft but theres one place that can get around it and do just the U joints

thanks, but its very problematic.. its good to me for a few months, then it succumbs to some stupid issue, usually cooling system related. i mean if your gonna make the cooling system out of reinforced plastic, what do you think is gonna happen.. those crooks know what their doin though. im carless yet again for the 4th time in 2 years

If I could go back, I personally wouldn't either. I rushed into the whole thing cause I was younger/dumber then I am now. And these cars are way too expensive to mod.

I'd guess the Lexus would be little easier on him reliability wise, but with these new cars, you never know.

Hell most Japanese cars are made in america now and quality went out the door. Hence why the 6th gens have trans problems around 50k miles. At least Lexus is still made in Japan. With BMW you gotta pay to play.

yep, if you look at the stats, cars made in the US have horrible quality Mondays and Fridays, but look at Japan and its quality straight through the week

Only American cars I will touch are from 75 on back. I started out on american cars and in 10th grade switched over to Japanese.

only American car i would want is a Chevette

still dont forget 3rd gens had tranny problems though, VG GXE automatic trannys were made for 4 cylinder engines, not the 160hp/183tq of a VG V6 hence why lots of people had tranny problems. im surprised mine lasted so long

Thats because they were in their beginning stages. 1st fwd maxima. 4th gens weren't all that bad and 5th especially 5.5 gen were solid. Then they send it to america when it got good to throw it away. It takes an amateur 3 hours to all day to take a 3rd gen dash completely out. It takes the same amateur 2-4 hours to take a 6th gen dash completely out.

A Chevette! Really? I always thought that was an fugly lil car. You sure you don't mean Chevelle?

I recently got a good deal on an engine from a 1994 GXE. While I was mainly interested in the 100K timing belt upgrade, apparently the exhaust manifold studs got juiced up as well .http://bebrs.pie-dabas.net/Webs/Terr...ktora_tapa.pdf. FTW!!!

tranny parts arent in yet not gonna be able to drive this thing much before winter

i got my brakes though, leftover stock from the UK from 30 years ago brake pads are made of asbestos, and asbestos brakes have been banned in the UK for a while

Remember when you had one of these?

Picked it up today...as you can see everything is included. Pulled it from a running 1994 GXE .
