What to replace if I'm gonna take out the enginge?
(VG30E)
Since I have to replace some of my exhaust studs and rocker cover seals, also one of the 2 bolts holding the alternator broke of when I replaced it earlier, so I get a chance to fix that as well.
I thought maybe I could drop the entire engine down to get real good access, never done it before, so I'm gonna try it out on my parts car first, hopefully tomorrow.
Any tips would be apreciated
But what should I replace when I get the engine out, so I can start to order in parts, anything thats more likely to be in need of replacement than other (or prone to fail components)?
Should I replace the engine mounts before bolting it back on?
What I have in mind:
All new exhaust maifold bolts and nuts
All belts
Cleaning intake manifold (and the entire outer engine ofc)
I have ordered a FelPro Full set for my VG30E, so what gaskets should I replace?

When was the last time the timing belt and water pump were replaced? If the engine is out of the car, it's a hell of a lot easier to get to everything.
A little bigger expense but worth doing if you have over 60K since the last change.

Depending on how long you want to keep the car, if the engine is OUT, then I would treat the rust in the engine bay likely around the crossmember or radiator support. This is more damaging than any parts.
From your words though you aren't removing the engine but dropping it down a bit. Be careful when doing this if you are separating the trans from the block - when you remove the bellhousing bolts on the trans, it needs to be properly supported by the tranny jack from below, as well as the engine needs to be prevented from naturally leaning towards the passenger side of the engine bay (you could stick a piece of wood between the idler pulley bracket and the side). If it leans too far it might warp the mounts.
