I completely forgot about me asking you about your E39 3 yrs ago, lol! Glad to see you picked the E39 over the E60. Though I haven't seen many problems from the E60 lately. I know the E39 Vanos give issues but if you got the money to replace it then do it. You can rebuild it yourself followed by 2-3 engine oil flushes to clear the oil feed passages and then it's all good. Buddy of mine has an '03 as well in the nice blue color. I recently acquired the F30 328i. But I really want to see your car finally done. Keep it up!
